The attachfile package brings this functionality to pdfLaTeX and provides some additional features not available in Acrobat, such as the ability to use arbitrary LaTeX code for the file icon -- including things like includegraphics, tabular, and math. CTAN upload notification: Revise bst files for natbib

On Fri, 7 Jan 2005 Patrick Daly uploaded revised bst files for the natbib package. natbib is a Bibliography style with author-year and numbered references. Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/natbib License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The natbib package comes with replacement bst files for 3 of the 4 standard BibTeX styles: plainnat, abbrvnat, unsrtnat. Until now, the ordering is exactly as for the original styles, which is not always appropriate for author-year citation. Especially when works have identical authors and years, as in a multipart paper, the original ordering has undesirable side effects. CTAN upload notification: unitsdef

On Tue, 4 Jan 2005 Patrick Happel uploaded an update of his package unitsdef to CTAN. There are a lot of packages for typesetting units in LaTeX2e. Some define macros to typeset a lot of units but do not suit to the actual font settings, some make the characters needed available but do not predefine any unit. This package tries to comply with both requirements. It predefines common units, defines an easy to use interface to define new units and changes the output concerning to the surrounding font settings. It includes some bugfixes, all units are robust now, a configuration file is supported and unitsdef now uses xspace to simplify the writing process. Name of contribution: pxfonts / txfonts Contributer's name: karl berry Location on CTAN: /fonts/txfonts and /fonts/pxfonts Summary description: [pt]xfonts.sty update for active characters License type: gpl Announcement text given by the package's contributor: - - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The txfonts.sty and pxfonts.sty packages released in 2000 by Dr. Young Ryu had the deficiency of using to specify character codes, etc. Consequently, if is an active character when these styles were read (e.g., if german.sty had been loaded), they would not work. Thomas Esser fixed this some years ago in teTeX by changing all the references to decimal. This upload simply propagates the new files to CTAN, with Dr. Ryu's permission. (Thanks also to Volker Schaa for reporting the inconsistency.) Also, the txfonts.map and pxfonts.map files from the TeX Live distribution are now included in the distribution on CTAN; they simply omit the entries for the standard base fonts (e.g., Palatino-Roman, Times-Roman). Finally, users of [pt]xfonts may be interested in this note on future work from Dr. Ryu: When I released the current txfonts and pxfonts, I thought it would be the final release. But, I have heard of some issues, especially those related to spacing of math alphabets, symbols and the size of small caps (being too small), integrals looking ugly, and parentheses being flat too quickly. I have a plan to update these fonts (together with complete hxfonts including complete math alphabets and symbols), but not until I finish something that I am now committed to.
