On Mon, 18 Oct 2004, Walter Schmidt submitted a fix to PSNFSS. He wrote:

I have uploaded the files

changes.txt freenfss.zip

to the /incoming directory at dante.ctan.org. Please, substitute them for the corresponding files in the CTAN directory

macros/latex/required/psnfss

This is a fix to PSNFSS 9.2, correcting a major bug in the metrics and VFs of the Charter fonts. Credits to Ingo Lepper for pointing me to the problem!
