catdvi is a free DVI to plain text translator written in portable ISO C. It can generate output in UTF-8 (Unicode), ASCII and some other customary encodings, formatted for either good readability or easy machine processing.

Changes since the last version submitted to CTAN (0.11) include several new or improved TeX font encodings, European currency symbol support, improved math layout, usability enhancements and a bunch of bug fixes.
