i found another bug in the footmisc i installed yesterday (it was actually corrected in the version that had previously been on ctan; the version i installed yesterday had the same version number as the one already there...)

the new version is v5.3c, and it even works in the part of my test suite that doesn't live in the same subtree, and therefore got forgotten yesterday...

any unfortunate who updated their copy of footmisc yesterday should update again -- sorry.

files updated are macros/latex/contrib/footmisc.dtx and footmisc.pdf
