Please find here hopefully complete and relevant details of an upload I have made today to CTAN. As this is my first attempt at writing a LaTeX package, I welcome any comments or suggestions you may have before putting the package on CTAN.
i've had a quick look, but i see no reason not to install your submission as it stands.
Name of the package: octavo.zip (containing octavo.dtx, octavo.ins, read.me) CTAN upload node: ftp.tex.ac.uk Suggested repository: macros/latex/contrib/supported/octavo Licensing conditions: lppl Summary of the package: Octavo provides a modification of the standard LaTeX book class to typeset books following classical layout and design principles. In particular, book formats are set to classical sizes such as foolscap, crown, post, demy, etc., margins are set harmonically, an attempt is made to maintain a constant grid of printed lines throughout the text, and the page styles are defined more discretely. The documentation includes methods to produce signatures so that books can actually be made by the user.
i've actually installed the files in macros/latex/contrib/octavo, since the supported/misc distinction is disappearing and all of both directories is being moved into contrib/
thanks for the upload.
