i've just read a post from chris wallace, on c.t.t, which says the canonical source is elsewhere, and the 2.09 ones on ctan are obsolete (the post offered a link to some publisher's site, fwiw).

so i've done the obvious thing and moved macros/latex209/contrib/aasmacros to the obsolete tree on ctan.
