I have uploaded protosem.tar.gz to UK incoming. Please use this
to replace the current fonts/archaic/protosem. The distribution is under the LPPL.
From the README:
The protosem package provides fonts for the Proto-Semitic script in use
about 1600BC, and which may be a very early ancestor of many of the world's alphabets. Files for using the font with LaTeX are also included. This is one of a series of archaic script fonts.
Changes in version 1.2 (2005/03/18) o Font supplied as Postscript Type 1 instead of MetaFont.
I've installed the files as requested. thanks for the upload.
A SPECIAL REQUEST TO FONT EXPERTS: This is my first attempt at producing
a Type 1 font from one of my original MetaFont sources. I would be very grateful if you could check this out and let me have any suggestions before I tackle the other fonts in the set.
On a Linux box I used mftrace and FontForge to go from MetaFont *.mf to
T1 *.afm & *.pfb files. I tried afm2pfb to get a *.pfb file but the program stopped with a segmentation fault.
