A type1 option has been added for xeLaTeX and luaLaTeX users who prefer type1 fonts or wish to avoid fontspec. Macros quattrocento and quattrocentosans select those font families. Option sfdefault now redefines familydefault rather than

mdefault and is no longer

incompatible with the rm option.
