This is a new environment that makes it easier to label each equation of a linear system. The pifont package is used to put a circled numer next to each equation. Example: egin{linsys}{2} -x & + & 4y & = & 8\ -3x & - & 2y & = & 6 end{linsys} and similarly for a 3x3 system, and so on.

the directory you suggested for the file is not actually admissible in the present structure of ctan. i have therefore installed the file as macros/latex/contrib/other/misc/linsys.sty
