- Consistent graphics and font support for all DVI back-ends.
- Easy to install and use.
- Much less expensive than other analogues.
GRAPHICAL CAPABILITIES
BaKoMa TeX includes an interpreter for *PostScript Level 2*, which is tested for compatibility with output from popular software such as: MetaPost, Adobe Illustrator 9.0, Adobe Streamline 4.0, MatLab, CorelDraw, CorelXARA, HIGZ, PageDraw, FrameMaker, ImageMagick, etc.
All DVI back-ends support the same special interface compatible with well known Rokicki's DVIPS, including processing PostScript embedded into DVI files (PSTricks, PSfrag, XyPic, etc.).
The system includes Graphics Import Filters for the following formats: PostScript, HPGL, DXY, JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, PCX, MSP, BMP.

Any font type can be used for any output device/format. This feature is supported by automatic font conversion between font formats when needed. This feature enables the rendering of Type 1 fonts *without ATM*. On the other hand, it enables the use of TrueType/OpenType fonts for generating PostScript printed even on PostScript Level 1 printers.
USER INTERFACE
- One touch key for TeX + Preview + other customizable postprocessors,
- Typesetting a selected part of a document (styles may be precompiled as format).
- Quick navigation via document structure,
- DVI Forward/Reverse search (format independent),
- Powerful support for different input encodings,
- Project support,
- Graphics import assistant,
- Assitance for multi-file documents: context sensitive openning of included text and graphics files,
- Searching for TeX errors using the TeX log file,
- Searching for help for TeX commands in entire document collection,
- Syntax highlighting is configurable for catcodes and command dictionaries,
- Customizable GUI Bars and menus for inserting Math Symbols and other commands,

- PDF.
Important feature of BaKoMa TeX is consistent graphics and font support for all types of output. This means that all font formats mentioned may be used for every type of output. This also means that all graphical capabilities mentioned are supported for every type of output.
PDF GENERATION FEATURES
- Handling in-line PostScript in DVI files (PSTricks).
- Creating PDF files which share fonts. Suitable for preparing CD-ROM based document libraries.
- Embedding fonts in CFF requires 2--3 times less space then other font forms.
- Handles HyperTeX (HyperRef) and document outline.
NEW FEATURES OF BAKOMA TEX 4.0 in comparison with BAKOMA TEX 3.51
Text Editor (CENTAUR)
- Customizable GUI Bars for insertion of a math symbols. Currently, the way for adding new symbols is simplest among another solutions (WinEdt, WinTeX, etc.). See subdirectory: `BaKoMaGUI'.
- `Options|TeX Running Parameters' - all parameters for running TeX are in one ddialog. Arbitrary set of postprocessors is available.
- `File|Print (Generate Listing)' (LP2DVI) gets space width from TFM file.
DVI Viewer (DVIEW)
User Interface * Left mouse button may be used for dragging page inside a window like to hand tool of Acrobat Reader. * Right mouse button opens diffrent context menus for cases with selection and without selection. * Document Outline is displayed at left side of window via `tree view' like to Acrobat Reader bookmarks. * User Bookmarks are shown via dialog. Advantages: Looking to global bookmarks and removing a bookmarks.
DVIPS Compatibility
There are several improvements intended for more compatibility between BaKoMa DVI Viewer and DVIPS programs. * Support for literal prologs (special{! ...}). * Support for local headers (special{header=...}), whose are in the same directory as document. * Support for PostScript procedure definitions splitted between several specials (Embedding TeX material into PostScript procedures). This feature enables running such macro packages as *PSFrag*, *PST-FILL* (from PSTricks), etc. * DVI page origin was changed to match it with DVIPS origin, that is sensitive for *changebar.sty* package. * Installation of PK Fonts is simplified -- just put they to TDS.
HyperRef Support
There is appeared specific HyperRef driver for BaKoMa TeX (see `BaKoMa exlatexhBaKoMa4.def'). This driver embeds document outline and document info into DVI file via `pdfmark' operator in `literal prologs' (special{! ...}). This approach enables embedding into PDF document such HyperRef options as `pdftitle', `pdfauthor', etc. In advance, *unicoded* outline and document info are supported without any limitations, because DVIEW keeps document outline and document info in Unicode format. Approach of importing outline and entering document info via dialog is still available for documents produced without HyperRef package.
MetaHelp
- MetaHelp displays document collection via Tree View in main dialog.
- This tree view is synchronized with keyword targets.
- All functions are available from buttons on main dialog.
FONTS
- Windows families for Standard TeX Fonts was changed to avoid conflicts with fonts from another TeX systems.
- Multi-aliasing, which works acros not-present fonts. It works also for substitution of preconfigured but absent fonts.
- Adobe 35 Fonts are preconfigured, to use they with BaKoMa TeX you must only put they in TDS.
- Fixed problem with font files with two fonts (some Obliqued fonts)
