quoth the daemon on thursday (and i forgot it and deleted the mail, and have only just been reminded and restored the mail from archive):
The following information was provided by the package's contributor.
Name of contribution: librarian Author's name: Paul Isambert Location on CTAN: macros/generic/librarian Summary description: Tools to create bibliographies in TeX. License type: lppl
Announcement text given by the package's contributor:
The librarian package extracts information in bib files, makes it available in the current document, and sorts lists of entries according to that information and the user's specifications. Citation and bibliography styles can then be written directly in TeX, without any use of BibTeX. Creating references thus depends entirely on the user's skill in TeX.
The package works with all formats using plain TeX's basic syntactic sugar; the distribution includes a third-party file for ConTeXt and a style file for LaTeX.
As an example of use, an Author (Year) style is given in a separate file and explained in the documentation.
i installed the package (on thursday) and created the catalogue entry then too. thanks to Paul for the upload.
Users may view the package catalogue entry at http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/librarian.html or they may browse the package directory at http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/macros/generic/librarian/
and of course, given the delay, the catalogue entry is now stable.
