Manfred Lotz submitted an update to the
pkgcheck
package.
Version: 4.1.1 2026-10-06
License: apache2 mit
Summary description: CTAN package checker
Announcement text:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
### Fixed
- False positive PDF detection for text files containing `%PDF` as a
substring (e.g. a Windows batch file using `%PDF%` as a variable).
Caused by `infer` 0.22 scanning the first 1024 bytes for `%PDF`
rather than checking only the magic offset.
- Eliminate remaining `panic!` / `.unwrap()` sites in `main.rs`:
missing home directory, unexpected file type in TDS archive walk,
hash-file errors in threadpool scopes, symlink canonicalization,
`meta.modified()`, tempdir path conversion, and several non-UTF-8
path sites.
- Remove `'/'` from the filename allowlist in `filename_has_bad_chars`;
add `depth() > 0` guard so invoking pkgcheck with `-d .` or `-d ./`
no longer triggers a false E0001.
- Replace `match dir_entry { Ok/Err }` with a `let`-else guard in the
`check_package` WalkDir loop.
### Changed

Ali Ramlaoui submitted the
animategif
package.
Version: 1.0.0 2026-10-06
License: lppl1.3c
Summary description: Embed animated GIF files in PDF documents, decoded in pure Lua
Announcement text:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
animategif embeds animated GIF files in PDF documents: \animategif{movie.gif}.
It decodes the GIF in pure Lua (in-process with LuaLaTeX, via texlua and shell
escape with pdfLaTeX and XeLaTeX), so no external programs are needed, and
hands the frames to the animate package with a timeline that follows the
GIF's own delays, disposal, transparency and loop count. Frames are stored as
compact PNG deltas and cached; options select frame ranges, speed, number of
plays, downsampling, or a still frame (automatic in beamer handouts).

Javier A. Múgica submitted the
cprotect-other
package.
Version: 2026-10-06
License: pd
Summary description: An alternative \cprotect that avoids the .cpt files
Announcement text:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This package provides an alternative to cprotect. It defines the macro
\cprotect, to be used in the same way as the one from the homonymous package.
The one from this package avoids the .cpt auxiliary files that pollute
the working directory, and it is not specific to LaTeX; it only needs eTeX.
It is also much faster than \cprotect, though you typically don’t place
many \cprotect in a project.
If you have some weird catcode settings the macro may fail.
However, the relevant definition is so simple that in a case like this
you can just copy-paste the macro from the package and modify it for
your unusual setting; it is obvious how to do it.

Grigorii Moiseev submitted an update to the
suai-report
package.
Version: 2.7 2026-10-05
License: mit
Summary description: Reports for Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation
Announcement text:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 2.7 fixes several errors in the line-based block commands and
extends the support for listings.
Fixed:
- A block (\suailist, \suaitable, \suaieq, ...) now ends at a line
starting with \section, \begin, \end, \par or \clearpage. A block
right above \end{document} used to stop the build.
- A lstlisting environment right below a block keeps its first line
of code.
- \suaitable: spaces or "|" inside a formula in a cell no longer break
the table.
- A % comment in a line of a block applies to that line only.
- A Russian abbreviation at the end of a list item keeps its full stop.
- An unknown listing language gives a warning instead of an error.
- suai new --title: the characters & _ ^ and $ in a title are escaped.
New:
- Listings: JavaScript, TypeScript, Kotlin, Rust, JSON, YAML and
Dockerfile are defined by the package, with short language names
such as cpp, cs, js, ts, py.
- The PDF bookmark of an appendix carries its letter.
Changed:
- Tables typed by hand (tabular, tabularx, longtable) are set with the
line spacing of the text, as \suaitable is. Use
\renewcommand{\suaitablestretch}{1} to make all tables single-spaced.
