Summary description: A user-friendly interface to PDF annotations
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For a long time pdflatex has offered the command pdfannot for inserting
arbitrary PDF annotations. However, the command is presented in
a form where additional knowledge of the definition of the PDF format is
indispensable. This package is an answer to the – occasional – questions
in newsgroups, about how one could use the comment function of Adobe
Reader. At least for the writer of LaTeX code, the package offers a
convenient and user-friendly means of using pdfannot to provide comments
in PDF files. Since version v1.1, pdfcomment.sty also supports:
LaTeX -> dvips -> ps2pdf, LaTeX -> dvipdfmx and XeLaTeX.
Unfortunately, support of PDF annotations by PDF viewers is sparse to
nonexistent. The reference viewer for the development of this package is
Adobe Reader.

Quite an update. Many bugs fixed, but probably just as many
new ones introduced: feedback welcome!
* Version 0.2.3
- fixed compatibility problem with label option from tikz
- Fixed resizing problem for shape ground
- Variable capacitor
- polarized capacitor
- ConTeXt support (read the manual!)
- nfet, nigfete, nigfetd, pfet, pigfete, pigfetd
(contribution of Clemens Helfmeier and Theodor Borsche)
- njfet, pjfet (contribution of Danilo Piazzalunga)
- pigbt, nigbt
- *backward incompatibility* potentiometer is now the
standard resistor-with-arrow-in-the-middle; the old
potentiometer is now known as variable resistor (or vR),
similarly to variable inductor and variable capacitor
- triac, thyristor, memristor
- new property name for bipoles
- fixed voltage problem for batteries in american voltage mode
- european logic gates
- *backward incompatibility* new american standard
inductor. Old american inductor now called cute inductor
- *backward incompatibility* transformer now linked with
the chosen type of inductor, and version with core, too.
Similarly for variable inductor
- *backward incompatibility* styles for selecting shape
variants now end are in the plural to avoid conflict with paths
- new placing option for some tripoles (mostly transistors)
- mirror path style

Name of contribution: PerlTeX
Version number: 2.0
Author's name: Scott Pakin
Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/perltex/
Summary description: Define LaTeX macros in terms of Perl code
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PerlTeX is a combination Perl script (perltex.pl) and LaTeX2e style
file (perltex.sty) that, together, give the user the ability to define
LaTeX macros in terms of Perl code. Once defined, a Perl macro becomes
indistinguishable from any other LaTeX macro. PerlTeX thereby combines
LaTeX's typesetting power with Perl's programmability.
Version 2.0 (not a major release, just the version after 1.9) of
PerlTeX fixes two bugs. First, user code can now safely change the
current directory. Second, multi-paragraph error output is now
reported correctly. Thanks to Przemyslaw Wesolek for providing a bug

License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List is an organized list of over 5900
symbols commonly available to LaTeX users. Some of these symbols are
guaranteed to be available in every TeX distribution. Others require
font files that come with some, but not all, TeX distributions. The
rest require font files that must be downloaded explicitly from CTAN
(http://www.ctan.org/) and installed. The Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol
List currently showcases symbols from 130 separate typefaces.
This new release of the Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List (version 11.0)
is a particularly exciting one. At long last the document has been
fully hyperlinked! (This was not a simple manner of including a
usepackage{hyperref}; the document was filled with constructs that
confused hyperref.) The list contain almost a thousand more symbols
than before (a 20% increase), new how to prose in the Additional
Information section, an expanded index with more see... entries,
and other features designed to help the Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol

Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The draw, fill, and clip commands now pass raw SVG code
directly to dvisvgm
(version 0.8.6 required); zero-length paths are output as
circles.
Unsupported SVG elements are converted to PNG images;
unimplemented SVG
features such as Gouraud and tensor-patch shading can be
(partially)
emulated as vector elements using the -svgemulation option.
The control point normalization of rational NURBS surfaces
was fixed;
3D NURBS curves are now implemented. A problem with
inlinemovie3 was fixed.
The linetype pattern is now a real array: for backwards
compatibility, a
string is still accepted, but the return type of
linetype(pen) is now
real[] instead of string (backwards incompatible). The split
routine was
changed so that an empty delimiter splits on spaces,
discarding duplicates.
The palette routines are now guaranteed to generate at least the
specified number of colours. PNG output produces a
transparent background.
Surface and path3 garbage collection was fixed.

For a long time pdflatex has offered the command pdfannot
for inserting
arbitrary PDF annotations. However, the command is presented in
a form where additional knowledge of the definition of the
PDF format is
indispensable. This package is an answer to the – occasional
– questions
in newsgroups, about how one could use the comment function
of Adobe
Reader. At least for the writer of LaTeX code, the package
offers a
convenient and user-friendly means of using pdfannot to
provide comments
in PDF files. Since version v1.1, pdfcomment.sty also supports:
LaTeX -> dvips -> ps2pdf, LaTeX -> dvipdfmx and XeLaTeX.
Unfortunately, support of PDF annotations by PDF viewers is
sparse to
nonexistent. The reference viewer for the development of
this package is
Adobe Reader.

Name of contribution: combinedgraphics
Version number: v0.0.2-alpha
Author's name: Christian Schneider
Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/combinedgraphics
Summary description: macro for inclusion of combined EPS/LaTeX and PDF/LaTeX graphics
License type: gpl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This package provides a macro (|includecombinedgraphics|) for the
inclusion of combined EPS/LaTeX and PDF/LaTeX graphics (an export
format of Gnuplot, Xfig, and maybe other programs). Instead of including
the graphics with a simple |input|, the |includecombinedgraphics| macro
has some comforts:
* changing the font and color of the text of the LaTeX part
* rescaling the graphics without affecting the font of the
LaTeX part
* automatic inclusion of the vector graphics part, as far as LaTeX
part does not do it (e.g., for files exported from Gnuplot before
version 4.2)
* rescaling and rotating of complete graphics (similar to
|includegraphics| from graphicx package)
See `combinedgraphics.pdf' for detailed information on usage.

The exptfeil package provides some more extensible arrows (usable
in the same way as xleftarrow from amsmath), and a command to
simply create new ones.
Version 0.4 adds some double arrows with bigger distance, which I
had in my private version already in april 2007 ...
