CTAN update: hithesis
by CTAN Announcements via ctan-ann 11 Oct '26

11 Oct '26

Chu Yanshuo submitted an update to the hithesis package. Version: 3.1e 2026-10-10 License: lppl1.3a Summary description: Harbin Institute of Technology Thesis Template Announcement text: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # hithesis Release Notes (English) This document lists all changes in hithesis from v2.0.11 through v3.1e. ## v3.1e - Fix the Latin Modern Mono fallback missing the \cs{IfFontExistsTF} guard, which caused CI documentation builds to fail. (2026/04/06) - Change the default behavior of \texttt{bibeditor} to match \texttt{bibauthor}, since the latter is already controlled by the class file and is no longer a what-you-see-is-what-you-get output. (2026/01/28) - Set the alignment of bibliography labels. (2026/01/17) - Add a thesis/design checkbox above the undergraduate inner-cover text; since hithesis does not yet support the graduation design, the checkmark is hard-coded on "graduation thesis". (2026/01/08) - Add an option for whether the English inner-cover title automatically adjusts its font size based on title length. (2026/01/07) - The English inner-cover title defaults to size No. 2 and can auto-adjust through the \texttt{etitleauto} option. (2026/01/07) - Set whether bibliography author names are fully uppercased and the maximum number of authors shown. (2026/01/07) - \texttt{schrb}: implement figure, table, and equation numbering for the Harbin campus undergraduate proposal as "图 X-X", "表 X-X", and "公式 (X-X)". (2026/01/05) - \texttt{schrb}: add a page style for scanned PDFs that shows only the page number. (2026/01/04) - \texttt{schrb}: add a starred variant to control whether page numbers are shown on scanned PDF pages. (2026/01/04) - Add a starred variant to control whether page numbers are shown on scanned PDF pages. (2026/01/04) - Add a pair of empty braces to the environment above. (2026/01/03) - Replace \cs{@,} with \texttt{,}. (2026/01/03) - Control whether bibliography author names are fully uppercased and the maximum number of authors shown. (2026/01/03) - Change the output to \texttt{\{\{, 等/et al\}\{, 作者1\}...\{, 作者-1\}\}} so the class file can control author capitalization and the maximum number of authors shown. (2026/01/03) - Set whether bibliography author names are fully uppercased and the maximum number of authors shown. (2026/01/03) - Fix the defense resolution only being insertable on the first page, and adjust the indentation of the related insertion code. (2025/12/09) - \texttt{FullRight} introduced too many bugs, so drop it (a \texttt{nolinebreak} was added to the \texttt{.bst} file instead). (2025/10/17) - Use \texttt{nolinebreak} so periods no longer appear at the beginning of a line (\texttt{FullRight} introduced too many bugs, so drop it). (2025/10/17) - Revise the "学位" (Degree) field on the Harbin campus master proposal cover. (2025/09/21) - Revise the "学院（部）" and "学科/学位专业类别" fields on the Harbin campus master proposal cover. (2025/09/21) - Add "学位论文" or "实践成果" to the Harbin campus master proposal cover. (2025/09/21) - Add the doctoral dissertation reviewers, defense committee list, and defense resolution. \issue[247] (2025/03/20) - Add fallback fonts so the document builds on local machines, CI, Debian, and macOS alike. CTAN update: numodel-bundle
by CTAN Announcements 09 Oct '26

09 Oct '26

Paul Zuurbier submitted an update to the numodel-bundle package. Version: 0.10.0 License: lppl1.3c Summary description: Numerical physics models with Forrester diagrams and auto-sized plots Announcement text: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- numodel-bundle v0.10.0 Write a numerical model once, and get everything a physics lesson needs from it. numodel lets you declare a model in LaTeX -- its variables with start values and siunitx units, its rules, a stop condition -- and does the rest. It computes the model (Euler integration in Lua) and typesets it in every form teaching material uses: the text model in the notation pupils know from their syllabus (English, or Dutch Coachtaal, with further languages as drop-in files), the Forrester stock-and-flow diagram, laid out automatically from the rules, and graphs of the computed results. Because all of these come from one declaration, the text, the diagram and the graphs can never disagree; change a start value and every view follows. The graphs come from numodel-plot, which is also usable on its own. It sizes each plot to a whole number of tick intervals, writes axis labels in the IEEE or ISO 80000-1 style, folds the power of ten of a scaled axis into an SI prefix -- "s (km)" rather than "s (10^3 m)" -- and places the labels sensibly for one-, two- and four-quadrant plots. New: numodel-coach -- from the text straight into Coach ------------------------------------------------------- In many Dutch secondary schools, pupils build and run their models in CMA Coach 7. Until now that meant retyping the model from the textbook, where the formatted table of a PDF does not copy. The new module numodel-coach writes the model as a Coach 7 activity: \coachmodel{free-fall} % writes free-fall.cma7 Pupils open the file and find exactly the model of the text, ready to run. This is more than a copy of the rules: * The rules are translated into Coachtaal with care for where the two languages differ. Coach gives unary minus and powers the same priority, so -x^2 is written -(x^2); comparisons joined by AND/OR get the parentheses Coachtaal requires; numbers get a decimal comma and function arguments the semicolon separator; names Coachtaal does not allow bare are put in brackets. Whatever cannot be translated exactly is reported as a warning, never silently changed. * Units become comments on the initial values, and every variable appears in Coach's variable list with its unit -- and with the axis range of its graph in the document, so a new graph in Coach looks like the one in the text. * An instruction text is written once in LaTeX, typeset in the PDF where you want it and shown in Coach's instruction window as well: paragraphs, lists, emphasis, and inline formulas with sub- and superscripts all carry over. * The iteration count follows numodel's maxiter setting; the file can also be embedded in the PDF. CMA does not document the .cma7 format. numodel-coach was developed against files saved by Coach 7.0 and tested with Coach 7 on Chromebooks; reports from other Coach versions are welcome. numodel ------- * A documented Lua interface opens the model to other tools: numodel.get_model returns the complete model (variables, start values, units, rules in order, stop condition, axis ranges), and numodel.plaintext renders it as plain text in Coachtaal or the English notation. numodel-coach is its first user. * Fixed: \diagrammodel failed when the unit of a y-variable is a robust command with an optional argument, such as the unit macros of physunits. numodel-plot ------------ * scale-format=input: a scaled axis can now keep its unit exactly as written and put the factor in front of it ("10^3 km"), next to the existing prefix ("Mm") and exponent ("10^6 m") forms. * Ready for siunitx 3.6, which removes an internal that the SI-prefix axis labels relied on; verified against siunitx 3.3.8, 3.4, 3.5 and the 3.6 development branch. Documentation ------------- * The README is now written for users of the packages; each of the three packages has its own manual. See CHANGELOG.md for the full list. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This package is located at https://mirrors.ctan.org/macros/luatex/latex/numodel-bundle More information is at https://ctan.org/pkg/numodel-bundle -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for the upload. New on CTAN: Tcode
by CTAN Announcements 09 Oct '26

09 Oct '26

Javier A. Múgica submitted the Tcode package. Version: 2026-10-07 License: pd Summary description: Typesetting verbatim code: C, python,… Announcement text: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is a package for typesetting code (e.g., C, python, julia... ). It may be an alternative to the listings package. It is MUCH faster, specially when hundreds of words are defined. It has been tested on plain pdftex, luatex, and pdflatex. It was developed to replace listings for typesetting C code in one particular project. As a result, the support for C has been thoroughly developed: Proper recognition of C numbers, automatic detection of #define'd words, etc. It comes with support for python and julia, much less developed but still fully functional. In python, it recognizes the {} delimited format in f-prefixed strings. The package has a modular design, with a kernel on top of which the support for languages can be programmed. Thus, for example, there is nothing specific in the kernel to recognize {} formats within strings or words following #define. Similar features can be programmed for any language. Support for other languages is welcome. There is an example of a small language file for a faked language: Tcode_example.tex, that can serve as template for other languages. The support for julia, in Tcode_julia,tex, is also small enough that it can serve as template. A fast, user-oriented documentation is present in Tcode_users.html. A thorough documentation of the package can be found in Tcode_developers.html. The package includes a util, pdfcolor-rg.tex, that syntax highlighting files take advantage of, than can be used independently of Tcode. It defines the \color macro and \DefColor and \DefGray macros. It is only suitable for pdf backend, rgb and gray models. Small, easy to understand and debug, and fast. This package will not become part of TeX Live because of problems with filename conventions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The package’s Catalogue entry can be viewed at https://ctan.org/pkg/tcode The package’s files themselves can be inspected at https://mirrors.ctan.org/macros/generic/tcode/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for the upload. For the CTAN Team Petra Rübe-Pugliese ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CTAN is run entirely by volunteers and supported by TeX user groups.
