I have just discovered a vicious intermittent gremlin in the memoirclass that is not fixable by a patch file.
My apologies to all memoir users. I have uploaded memoir.tar.gz to UK incoming. Please use this to replacethe current macros/latex/contrib/supported/memoir, and announce on CTT.
