Changes in the structure of CTAN

The CTAN team are working to improve searching and browsing of CTAN.

The first visible steps will include a large number of directory moves. Over the next few days, the directories

macros/latex/contrib/(other|supported)

are going to disappear, and their contents will move to

macros/latex/contrib

We believe this will increase clarity, since there has in practice been no discernible difference between the two sub-trees apart from content.

The moves have already started; contrib/other/misc and contrib/supported/misc have been merged and moved to contrib/misc. Whenever new packages are submitted from now on, they will go direct into subdirectories of contrib/ (two such have appeared so far).
