I've placed `ttf2tex.tar.gz' in the incoming directory of the CTAN UK node. This is my final update for obsolete/support/ttf2tex. Please purge the old files and install the new ones. Thank you.
END-OF-LIFE ANNOUNCEMENT
As of September 30, 2004, ttf2tex is no longer maintained or in any way supported by its original author. Active development of the script has in fact already stopped in September 2002. Be advised that, even though ttf2tex may still work, there is no support in case of a problem and there will be no further updates.
This is my farewell to ttf2tex. I hope it has been useful.
ttf2tex is free software released under the GNU GPL. If anyone is interested in working on the script, feel free to do so. It may be a good idea to notify the CTAN staff in this case in order to avoid conflicting efforts.
ABOUT
ttf2tex is a script for the Bash shell which generates all files required to use TrueType fonts from a set of .ttf files. In short, it will do for TrueType fonts what fontinst's latinfamily command does for Type 1 Postscript fonts. In addition to that, it creates map files and installs all files according to the TeX Directory Structure.
CHANGES
This release includes all previously unreleased patches until the latest one from September 30, 2004; hence the release date and the retroactive EOL announcement. There have been some minor updates to the user manual as well. The LaTeX source of the manual is included in this release and there is now a configuration file.
thank you very much for this upload: i've updated the catalogue to make the status of the package entirely clear, and installed the replacement files as you requested.
