The distribution is under the LPPL.From the README:
Verse provides some aids for typesetting simple verse (poems).Changes in version 2.0 (2002/03/24) o Lines in a poem may be numbered (and label ed) o Verses may be numbered or otherwise distinguished o Line-end macros (\ and friends) work as advertised.
