Name of contribution: eqparbox Author's name: Scott Pakin Package version: 4.0 Location on CTAN: macros/latex/contrib/eqparbox/ Summary description: Create equal-widthed parboxes License type: lppl
Announcement text given by the package's contributor:
LaTeX users sometimes need to ensure that two or more blocks of text occupy the same horizontal space on the page. To that end, the eqparbox package defines eqparbox, eqmakebox, eqframebox, and eqsavebox macros and an eqminipage environment. These work, respectively, just like the parbox, makebox, framebox, and savebox macros and the minipage environment, except that instead of specifying a width, one specifies a tag. All boxes with the same tag -- regardless of where they are in the document -- will stretch to fit the widest box that uses that tag. This simple, equal-width mechanism can be used for a variety of alignment purposes, as is evidenced by the examples in eqparbox's documentation.
Version 4.0 is a major improvement that now supports boxes containing lists and boxes containing multiple paragraphs. It also provides a new eqminipage environment and some new macros for imposing minimum and maximum widths on boxes (eqsetminwidth, eqsetminwidthto, eqsetmaxwidth, eqsetmaxwidthto).
thanks for the upload (and sorry about the delay in this message -- i was away on family business, remote from any network connection).
i have installed the new version and updated the catalogue repository.
