The subfigure package version 2.1 is finally (officially) released. If you have been using version 2.0 or earlier, than you should notice no difference in its default behavior. If you have been using a beta release of version 2.1, you may need to add the tight option to maintain the same look-and-feel that you are used to. In addition, if you use the options: RM, SF, TT, MD, BF, IT, SL, SC, or UP; you will need to add their lowercase counterparts to get the same output (see below).The main differences are:
Bug fixes.
Second optional argument to subfigure to allow control over the list-of-figures entry separately from the subcaption.
A tight option for a more compact and better looking arrangement of your subfigures, the subcaptions and the main caption.
A subref command to allow references to the subfigure without the associated figure number (useful in the main caption).
New raggedright option for the subcaption. Also, changed the RM, SF, TT, MD, BF, IT, SL, SC, and UP options to only affect the label portion of the subcaption. Their lowercase counterparts affect the subcaption text as before. You can now combine some of these options for different effects---see the documentation.

The captcont package provides the ability to continue the numbering in your float environment (figure, table, etc.) with a minimal overhead. This package adds three commands: caption*, captcont, and captcont*. Along with the caption command, these give full control over the caption numbering, caption text and the entries in the list-of pages. o caption and captcont generate list-of page entries.o caption and caption* increment the figure or table counter.
This package also fully supports the subfigure package.Indicate the license: LaTeX Project Public License
