I have just uploaded a new version of the AE package, a set of virtual fonts that emulate T1 encoded fonts with CM fonts, to cam.ctan.org. The new version contains a bugfix: Apparently there are no ff, fi, fl, ffi or ffl ligatures in cmr5, so the corresponding glyphs in aer5 must be faked.
Please replace all current files, which I believe reside in /tex-archive/fonts/ae with the contents of the archive ae.tar.gz that I put in /incoming on cam.ctan.org; licensing conditions are unchanged.
i've installed the files as requested. thanks for the upload.
