i have just installed a new directory macros/latex/contrib/pict2e, which contains a distribution of the new (real) pict2e package, as documented in lamport, 2nd edition. from the readme: This package was described in the 2nd edition of LaTeX: A Document Preparation System, but the LaTeX project team declined to produce the package. For a long time, LaTeX has included a pict2e package that merely produced an apologetic error message. The new package extends the existing LaTeX picture environment, using the familiar technique (cf. the graphics and color packages) of driver files. The package documentation (pict2e.dtx) has a fair number of examples of use, showing where things are improved by comparison with the LaTeX picture environment. This class is used with LaTeX presentations using the prosper class. ppr-prv stands for Prosper Preview. The aim of this class is to produce a printable version of the slides written with Prosper, with two slides per page. I have uploaded ledmini.sty to UK incoming. Please use this to replace the current /macros/latex/contrib/ledmac/ledmini.sty. ledmini.sty is an experimental package to enable ledmac's line numbering and footnotes to work in a minipage environment. This version (2004/02/24) includes an environment that can break across pages and puts enclosed footnotes at the end of the environment, which might be in the middle of a page. They are the first of what is supposed to become a larger batch of files in the bigfoot bundle that is primordinarily concerned with providing many of the mechanisms needed for critical edition typesetting. The other files of the suite are available via CVS in workable state, but are still undergoing heavy change and are not yet documented, so I don't want to upload them right now. Pointers to the CVS are given in the README (which also explains the current state of affairs). The files are supposed to be placed into CTAN:macros/latex/contrib/bigfoot directory and are licenced under the GPL (version 2 or later). Sorry that most of the suite is yet available only by CVS. Here is the README file: This is the bigfoot bundle for critical edition typesetting and other concerns, written by David Kastrup (mailto:dak@gnu.org). The complete package in development can be accessed using the CVS instructions at <URL:http://sarovar.org/projects/bigfoot>, and CTAN:/macros/latex/contrib/bigfoot should provide released versions once they are fit for general consumption. The whole bundle is released under the GPL version 2 (or later). Part of the work has been sponsored or commissioned by various parties (including TUG), but further functionality and development depends on your support, financially or by participation. The author has a Paypal account which you might consider contributing to. All of the files (except perpage.sty, for historical reasons) need eTeX 2 as the LaTeX engine. Newer distributions already are eTeX-based; with older distributions you might need to use the `elatex' command. File descriptions for available files: suffix.ins: This is a generated file and not in the CVS archive (but on CTAN). But the user is left alone with the management of the BibTeX files. The program BibTool is intended to fill this gap. BibTool allows the manipulation of BibTeX files which goes beyond the possibilities --- and intentions --- of BibTeX. The possibilities of BibTool include * Pretty-printing BibTeX data bases adjustable by lots of parameters. * Syntactic checks with error recovery superior to BibTeX and helpful error messages. * Semantic checks can be specified by the user. * Sorting and merging of BibTeX data bases according to a free definable sort key. * Generation of uniform reference keys according to predefined rules or according to an own specification. * Selecting references used in one publication which are found by analyzing an .aux file. * Selecting references by a set of criteria (regular expressions). * Controlled rewriting of fields utilizing regular expressions to specify the rewriting rules. * Macro (String) expansion to eliminate the need of extra string definitions. * Collecting statistics about one or more BibTeX data bases. BibTool contains a documentation written in LaTeX of more than 60 pages (and still growing). BibTool is written in C and has been compiled on various operating systems like flavors of UN*X and MSDOG machines. It is distributed in source code. No compiled versions are available from the author (Useless to ask!). The aim of this class is to produce a printable version of the slides written with Prosper, with two slides per page.
