Announcement: This is version 3.00 of beamer, a class for creating presentations using latex. To use it, you also need - pgf version >=0.63, - xcolor version >=2.00 To install the class follow the instructions in doc/beameruserguide.pdf. This is a major update of beamer, containing many changes, most having to do with a new theme management. Old presentations should still compile without errors, but some slight color and spacing changes may occur, however. The update from pgf 0.63 to 0.64 is just a minor bugfix and not needed to use the new beamer version. Here are the changelogs: Beamer version 3.00: Themes: - Completely new theme management. - Lot's of new variations of themes. - Font/element/layout/color themes are orthogonal and can be freely combined. - Old themes obsolete, but supported for compatibility. - Original default theme is now in beamerthemecompatibility.sty. The conversion is mostly done by specialized BibTeX style files, derived from a converted bibliography style template. This ensures that the original BibTeX styles are faithfully reproduced. Some postprocessing is performed by Perl code. This is an update of the bib2html program written by David Hull in 1996 and maintained by him until 1998. I have been a happy user of the program since 1995, using the program to keep my publication list up to date, and, lately, to generate the on-line bibliography list for my book Code Reading: The Open Source Perspective (Addison-Wesley 2003). After 1998 no other changes were made to the program, and I failed to locate an active program home page. Since there were a number of changes I needed to bring the program up to date with evolving web standards, I decided to adopt bib2html for maintenance, evolution, and further distribution. The first new public release made in 2004, features support for XHTML 1.0. Changes in CTAN directory fonts/psfonts (and its descendents)

fonts/psfonts was created long ago, when fontinst was new, and computers were so slow that running it (let alone preparing to run it) was a serious undertaking. The metrics created back then, kept on ctan in directories fonts/psfonts/(adobe|xadobe|monotype|xmono), have been extremely useful, over the years. However, they don't match modern ideas about using the commercial fonts they support. We now have a modern set of metrics, provided and maintained by Walter Schmidt, which substantially replace the old metrics. Therefore, we have deleted the directories fonts/psfonts/(adobe|xadobe|monotype|xmono) New directories are: fonts/psfonts/ly1 metrics for the basic 35 fonts set, using ly1 encoding fonts/psfonts/psnfss-metrics links to metrics for the basic 35 fonts set, using T1/TS1 encodings (and a set of pk files for the same fonts) fonts/psfonts/w-a-schmidt metrics for other commercial fonts fonts/psfonts/ly1 and fonts/psfonts/psnfss-metrics contain files and links that were previously in fonts/psfonts itself. On Thu, 9 Sep 2004 Martin Schröder submitted version 1.20a of pdftex. PDFTeX is an extension of TeX which directly generates PDF documents instead of DVI. Various TeX distributions, including teTeX and miktex include pdftex and pdflatex. License type is gpl.
