Robert N{u}rnberg reported two problems in ionumbers v0.2.1-alpha: 1. compilation of code like $a^0$ or $sqrt 2$ will fail, if the digit (or sign/point/comma) is not grouped in curly braces 2. the operatorname macro of amsmath/amsopn leads to an error in combination with ionumbers In the current release (v0.2.3-alpha) the following fixes are included: 1. by adding a special handling of the first character of a number an ungrouped single digit or sign will no longer lead to a failure (similar to the ziffer.sty package, point and comma will still lead to a failure in these (rare) cases from the examples above; this is documented) 2. a warning message is added for the case that amsmath/amsopn is loaded; as a workaround the ionumbers package should be loaded as last package (as already suggested) and the operatorname macro should be used in ionumbersoff (this is documented); this problem is a result of amsopn's strategy of saving the standard mathcode of - and can hardly be fixed in ionumbers (amsopn together with ziffer.sty leads to the same error) 3. the ionumbers_test file contains a lot of different input with the output and expected output of ionumbers for different package options; this makes it easier to test ionumbers especially after changes Thanks a lot to Robert for his bug reports! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This package is located at http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/ionumbers . However, the command is presented in a form where additional knowledge of the definition of the PDF format is indispensable. This package is an answer to the – occasional – questions in newsgroups, about how one could use the comment function of Adobe Reader. At least for the writer of LATEX code, the package offers a convenient and user-friendly means of using pdfannot to provide comments in PDF files. Since version v1.1, pdfcomment.sty also supports: LaTeX -> dvips -> ps2pdf, LaTeX -> dvipdfmx and XeLaTeX. Unfortunately, support of PDF annotations by PDF viewers is sparse to nonexistent. It includes a macro by David Kastrup for converting positive whole numbers to dozenal from decimal (base ten). It also includes a few other macros, redefines all the standard counters to produce dozenal output, and provides Metafont characters, in Roman, italic, slanted, and boldface versions of each, for ten and eleven (the Pitman characters preferred by the Dozenal Society of Great Britain). However, in a form where additional knowledge of the pdf reference is indispensable. pdfcomment.sty is an answer to the – from time to time – emerging questions in newsgroups, how one could use the comment function of Adobe Reader. At least out of the LaTeX code pdfcomment.sty offers a convenient and user-friendly possibility to use pdf annotations in pdf files. Unfortunately the support of pdf annotations by pdf viewers is only partly available to nonexistent. On Sun, 7 Dec 2008, Josef Kleber submitted an update to the miktex_update package. The miktex_update script offers automatic updating and/or installing of new packages of an existing MiKTeX installation. It supports direct connection with online repositories of the MiKTeX server network, as well as synchronizing a local repository (CTAN) with following update. In the end you should have an up-to-date and complete MiKTeX installation. It can also be used as a stand-alone editor for vector graphics. The output is a file (with extension .TpX) containing the drawing as LaTeX code or as an includegraphics link to an external file created by the program. User can choose between several output formats. TpX saves its own data in TeX file comments so that the drawing could be loaded into TpX and edited again. This internal TpX format is based on XML and could be understood and edited easily. TpX can import EMF/WMF pictures created by other Windows applications, including many applications producing scientific graphs. It also can import simple SVG pictures. In most cases the result is nice, though sometimes imported picture needs some manual editing. So TpX can be used as a EMF-to-any and SVG-to-any converter.
