For the CTAN team
Christian Reibiger submitted the
pdftricks
package
Summary description: A LaTeX package to use PSTricks code with PDF output.
License type: gpl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This package provides automatization facilities to use the pstricks package with
pdflatex. It is intended to be of easy use and interoperability with latex and
pdflatex, namely both show the same result.
The pdftricks2 package circumvents the problem that pdflatex can not handle
ps-code by writing an extra latex file that contains only the figure. This files
are converted to dvi to ps and then to pdf. Finally the resulting pdf-pictures
are included in the text as a graphic. This process can be handled automatically
by the package but it needs to have the possibility to execute system commands
(start pdflatex with option--enable-write18 or -shell-escape). If you do not
want to grant this rights you still can use the package but you have to execute
a shell script the package writes yourself to produce the pdf-pictures. In this
case you have to run pdftex again to include the pictures in your document.
The package tries to show the same results when used with latex as for pdflatex.
However there are some side effects of using this package as described in the
documentation.
Although this package is inspired by the pdftricks package, it is coded from
scratch. The pdftricks package has some flaws that are circumvented by
pdftricks2. For example you have to gather all configurations you need for your
pictures in one place. Furthermore it is not possible to share configuration
code between your figures and the main text. Also the pdftricks package does not
use the provided limits of the figure you produce but rather assumes it fits on
a standard page and cuts everything away that does not look like being
important.

Uwe Lück submitted an update to the
nicefilelist
package.
Summary description: listfiles alignment with date and version columns
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the output from LaTeX's listfiles, `nicefilelist.sty'
keeps separate columns for (i) date, (ii) version, and
(iii) caption of LaTeX source files according to their
Provides... statements. The alignment is not disturbed by
long base filenames or short filename extensions such as
`.fd'. The specification is Martin Muench's.
v0.7 deals with another challenge from the latter:
a package option `[wrap]' provides automatic word wrapping
within the caption column, so filenames and captions can
be quite long without disturbing the alignment. For this
purpose, I finally resort to a package not invented here:
`hardwrap' by Will Robertson and Kevin Godby.
As opposed to the `dateiliste' package, this is in fact
about the plain text output in the .log file or, with the
`myfilist' package, as a stand-alone plain text file.

- updated the banking style header to include the option to show a title.
- set the values of arrayrulewidth and doublerulesep to their standard values (0.4pt and 2pt resp.) to enable the drawing of rules in tabulars and arrays by default.
- modified the code of makecvtitle and makelettertitle of the casual style to avoid it to cause horizontal alignment issues after and before itself.
- corrected a bug in makelettertitle of most styles that displayed the current date ( oday) instead of the date given through the date command, as reported by B. Schlimmchen and S. Fnord.
- removed the need to set pdfpagelabels=false when loading hyperref, by putting pagenumbering{arabic} (to define hepage) before loading hyperref, as figured out by J. Wolf.
- corrected the line wrapping of cvlistitem of the banking style.
- corrected a bug in makecvtitle and makelettertitle of the banking style.
- removed an unwanted space in the footer of the casual style.
- moved the font style definitions to moderncv.cls for better readability (moderncv.cls is meant to be a sort of header file, implementing only some macros shared by all styles and defining the macros that the style files need to implement).
