The book Computer Typesetting Using LaTeX was published by the
BHV-Petersburg (Russia) publishing house in 2008 under ISBN 978-5-9775-0230-6.
Under the contract with the publishing house, I have now regained exclusive
rights to the content and decided to publish it under a Creative Commons
Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License (CC BY-SA 3.0). Please contact me
(E.M.Baldin(a)inp.nsk.su) if you require a different type of copyright license for
your purposes.
This book is a guide to using the LaTeX document preparation system. It
describes the complete fundamentals of the typesetting and layout processes and
covers at least 1300 LaTeX commands and about 750 packages, styles, and classes
that can be used in the typesetting of any documents. It also deals with
creating presentations, table layouts, inserting graphics, bibliography and
index, and many other tasks. Specific examples demonstrate that publishing
systems using LaTeX can handle projects of any scope and complexity. A major
part of the book is devoted to the typesetting of mathematical text, which is
the key differentiator of LaTeX compared to other word processors.
The book was written completely and exclusively by means of LaTeX tools. As
the author of both the content and the typesetting, I will greatly appreciate
any comments and useful advice on improving the quality of the electronic
version of the book.

Summary description: KOMA-Script a versatile LaTeX2e bundle
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
KOMA-Script is a versatile bundle of LaTeX2e document classes and packages. It
aims to be a replacement to the standard LaTeX2e classes. KOMA-Script does not
stop with the features known from the standard classes, but it extends the
possibilities in order to provide the user an almost complete working
environment.
Classes at KOMA-Script: scrartcl (article class), scrbook (book class), scrdoc
(internal), scrguide (internal), scrlettr (obsolete), scrlttr2 (letter class),
scrreprt (report class).
Packages at KOMA-Script: scraddr (handling of address files), scrbase (basic
features for class and package authors, e.g, key-value-options), scrdate (e.g.,
name of the day), scrextend (provides some KOMA-Script features for users of
other classes), scrfontsizes (developer help package to generate font size
files), scrhack (beta, improves some other packages), scrjura (beta, writing
laws, contracts etc.), scrkbase (sub-package used by KOMA-Script classes and
packages), scrlfile (manipulations while loading files, packages or classes),
scrpage (obsolete), scrpage2 (configuration and definition of page styles),
scrtime (output of current time), scrwfile (minimize number of write handles and
provide cloning of helper files), tocbasic (easy generation and handling of
table of contents and lists of floats), tocstyle (alpha), typearea (professional
type area and borders for ordinary persons).
Main documentation files: scrguide.pdf (German), scrguien.pdf (English),
scrhack.pdf (English), scrjura.pdf (German), tocstyle.pdf (English).
For a detailed list of changes see <http://www.komascript.de/release> (in
German) or <http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=4307> (in

Summary description: LaTeX support for free fonts by ParaType

Announcement text:

- Added font PT Mono (currently just TrueType format).
- My converted Type 1 version of fonts PT Sans and PT Serif is replaced
by Type 1 fonts kindly provided by ParaType. It has two important
advantages: First, they are of much higher quality. Second,
the distribution of the fonts is not limited to TeX.
- Added map file paratype-mixed.map that sets Type 1 version of PT Sans
and PT Serif and TrueType version of PT Mono. It is just temporary
sollution before I get Type 1 version of PT Mono. This map file
may disappear in future releases of this package.
- Added support for faked styles UprightItalic and Slanted of PT Serif.
Requested by A. Jan Kutylowski. There are no font files containing
these styles, the styles are generated on the fly. There is small
incompatibility: In the previous version of paratype, if you
requested slanted shape of PT Serif, it was replaced by italic
shape. Now, there is both italic and slanted shape and they are
different.
- Removed f-ligatures from the TS1 and X2 encodings. They were set explicitely
for all encodings on the command line, no matter if they were really
needed.
- The file paratype.sty sets PTMono-TLF as the default monospaced font.

gost
package.
Summary description: BibTeX styles to meet State Standards (GOSTs) of Russia
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
nGOST is a bundle of BibTeX styles designed to meet State Standards (GOST)
on information, librarianship and publishing issued by The Russian Federation
and Interstate Committee of former USSR States.
It may be distributed and/or modified under the conditions of the LaTeX
Project Public License, either version 1.3 of this license or (at your
option) any later version. The latest version of this license is in
http://www.latex-project.org/lppl.txt
and version 1.3 or later is part of all distributions of LaTeX
version 2005/12/01 or later.
GOST comprises 16 BibTeX styles to format bibliography in English, Russian
and Ukrainian according to GOST 7.0.5-2008 and GOST 7.1-2003. Both 8-bit
and Unicode (UTF-8) versions of each BibTeX style, in each case offering
a choice of sorted and unsorted. Further, 2 more styles, |gost780| and
|gost780s| styles (not conforming to effective standards) are retained
for backwards compatibility.
All BibTeX styles are derived from same master file |gost.dtx| by applying
different set of options as shown in the table below.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Style | utf8 | strict | modern | eprint | long | sort | natbib
------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Style | utf8 | strict | modern | eprint | long | sort | natbib
------------------------------------------------------------------------
|Gost2008| style is recommended for most applications. It corresponds to the
currently effective Standard 7.0.5-2008. Librarians should use the style
|gost2003| instead of |gost2008| to compile a library catalog to meet the
Standard 7.1-2003. Use of other styles is explained in |gost.pdf|.
What's new in version 1.2 (2012.02.22)
1. Code refactoring. All styles are now generated from single source file.
2. Support for GOST-7.1-2003. The field |medium| is added to reflect type
of material. For most entry types |medium| defaults to |text|.
3. Support for |natbib| package.
4. Support for |natbib| package.
5. All modern styles are now compiled with the |eprint| option.
What's new in version 1.1 (2012.01.21)}
1. Support for GOST 7.0.5-2008 and GOST 7.1-2003 is provided.
2. |@Online| entry is added to format a reference to electronic
resource on Internet.
3. |@MastersThesis| entry is added to format a reference to master's thesis.
|@DSciThesis| entry is added to format a reference to doctor of
sciences thesis.
4. |Urldate|, |eprint|, |eprintclass|, |eprinttype| fields are added.
