invoking a font command defined by
ewfontx. The new command will be
useful to users who know much of the old
ewfont command but are
unfamiliar with the detail of NFSS.

Summary description: An ArabTeX-like interface for LuaLaTeX
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This package provides for an ArabTeX-like interface to generate Arabic
writing from an ascii transliteration. It is particularly well-suited
for complex documents such as technical documents or critical editions
where a lot of left-to-right commands intertwine with Arabic writing.
arabluatex is able to process any ArabTeX input notation. Its output
can be set in the same modes of vocalization as ArabTeX, or in
different roman transliterations. It further allows many typographical
refinements. It will eventually interact with some other packages yet
to come to produce from .tex source files, in addition to printed
books, TEI xml compliant critical editions and/or lexicons that can be
searched, analyzed and correlated in various ways.

Josef Kleber submitted an update to the
pdfcomment
package.
Version number: 2.3b
License type: lppl1.3
Summary description: A user-friendly interface to pdf annotations
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For a long time pdflatex has offered the command `pdfannot` for inserting
arbitrary PDF annotations. However, the command is presented in
a form where additional knowledge of the definition of the PDF format is
indispensable. This package is an answer to the – occasional – questions
in newsgroups, about how one could use the comment function of Adobe
Reader. At least for the writer of LaTeX code, the package offers a
convenient and user-friendly means of using `pdfannot` to provide
comments
in PDF files. Since version v1.1, pdfcomment.sty also supports:
LaTeX -> dvips -> ps2pdf, LaTeX -> dvipdfmx, XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX
Unfortunately, support of PDF annotations by PDF viewers may vary.
The reference viewer for the development of this package is Adobe Reader.
License: **LPPL**
Changes in v2.3b:
* Bugfix: incorrect vertical position of superscripts with `pdftooltip`
reported and patched by Ross Moore
* Bugfix: change zero width in `pdfcomment` and `pdfmargincomment`
to make the comments visible in both Evince and the internal
viewer of TeXStudio
reported by shaniaki (BitBucket #7)
* improve appearance of tooltips with Mac Preview (at least)
feature request by Ross Moore
* expand comment argument in `pdftooltip` before pushing it through
`pdfstringdef`
feature request by Robert Terwilliger (Bitbucket #18)
* added `pdfencoding=auto` while loading `hyperref`
Needed for Unicode bookmarks in `XeTeX` and `LuaTeX`

Timo Baumann submitted an update to the
BibArts
package.
Version number: 2.1
License type: gpl
Summary description: Arts-style bibliographical information
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Changes from BibArts version 2.0 (2015) to version 2.1:
You now may choose your own order of page and footnote numbers in the
index (roman--arabic, arabic--roman, etc.). Type bibsort -s2 xxxx
for page and ... -f2 xxxx for footnote numbers. xxxx are
permutations of four letters out of nRrAas (a=alph, A=Alph, n=arabic,
R=Roman, r=roman, s=fnsymbol): You always have to set n and s, and to
choose R *or* A, and r *or* a. E.g. srnR means, that you can use
Roman in your text, but you do not have to. bibsort is able to
evaluate the new fnsymbols (which expand to TextOrMath). If bibsort
should write into files with a different prefix as the .aux input file,
you have to use -o <outfile> now. And you may type bibsort
<infile>, *or* bibsort -i <infile> (e.g., when the input file name
begins with '-'). bibarts.sty will be even loaded, when ~:;!?'`<> are
active (catcode 13); and bibsort is sorting also z (not only s) as
ss now; see bibarts.pdf. bibsort sorts the 'official' $Greek
variables$ since version 2.0. To write single words in Old Greek,
BibArts 2.1 also provides Alpha [A], Beta [B], Epsilon [E], eta
[Z], Eta [H=sort=>E], Iota [I], Kappa [K], Mu [M], Nu [N], Rho
[P==>R], Tau [T], Chi [X==>Ch], Omicron [O], omicron [o]. BibArts
2.0 set footnotesep to 2ex, whereas 2.1 does *not* change the
pre-setted value. If you want to continue with the 2.0 distance
between two footnotes, you will have to type
setlength{footnotesep}{2ex} in your text. Some of the prepared text
elements (captions) have been modernized. The evkctitlename changed
from {Short Titles} to {Shortened References}. And gannouncektitname
changed to '... im Folgenden'. To restore the 2.0 def.:
enewcommand{gannouncektitname}{ (kern 0.015em im folgenden
aupcorr}

List selectors [L][n], [L][a:b], in expressions are faster. And
items are counted starting at zero, not one ([L][a:b] already

associated to rrseq renamed to iterr. The float operations with
large precision handle small inputs faster.
The documentation has an example of using iter to implement
expandably the Brent-Salamin algorithm for digits of Pi.

prooftrees
package.
Version number: 0.3
License type: lppl1.3
Summary description: Forest-based proof trees (symbolic logic)
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
prooftrees supports drawing proof trees of the kind often used in
introductory logic classes, especially those aimed at students without
strong mathemtical backgrounds. Hodges (1991) is one example of a text
which uses this system. When teaching such a system it is especially
useful to annotate the tree with line numbers, justifications and
explanations of branch closures.
prooftrees provides a single environment, prooftree, and a variety of
tools for annotating, customising and highlighting such trees. A
cross-referencing system is provided for trees which cite line numbers
in justifications for proof lines or branch closures.
prooftrees is based on Forest and, hence, TikZ. The package requires
version 2.0.2 of Forest for expected results and will not work with
version 1.
The author is certain that some of her beliefs are false, but sure
that her belief that prooftrees has bugs is not among them.

Ross Churchley submitted the
beamercolorthemeowl
package.
Version: 0.1.1 2016-03-15
License: lppl1.3
Summary description: A flexible beamer color theme to maximize visibility
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The effectiveness of a colour scheme is heavily dependent on the
conditions you present in. Colours that look nice on a computer
screen may be invisible projected; colours that stand out in a
lit room may strain the eyes in a dark room. If possible, you should
carefully choose from Beamer's wide variety of colour themes to find
one that fits your presentation's individual needs.
The above paragraph would be excellent advice, except for one thing — only
a handful of pre-selected colour themes are publicly available for Beamer.
The vast majority of Beamer presentations use one of the built-in colour
themes, which are effective in some conditions but inadequate in others.
The goal of this package is to reduce the number of situations you find
yourself without any good colour options.
Owl is a flexible dark or light colour theme designed for maximum
readability in environments where most themes fall flat.
Main features:
- Dark color theme for presenting in low-light conditions
- Optional light color theme for presenting in bright ambient light
- Redefines color names red, green, blue, yellow to values that
are visible when displayed by certain projectors, particularly those
with a very bright green channel and dim red and blue channels.
This behaviour can be optionally disabled, with the provided colours
also available as OwlRed, OwlGreen, etc.

The xasy graphical user interface now runs under both Python 2.7 and

supported by assigning settings.epsdriver=epswrite (or by setting the
environment variable ASYMPTOTE_EPSDRIVER to epswrite). The
quiet flag suppresses noninteractive standard output when
settings.verbosity <= 1. A progress function was added to the
plain_strings
module. The smoothcontour3 module was optimized to use Bezier triangles
where appropriate, along with a built-in least-squares routine
and an improved root finder based on quadratic interpolation. If
settings.sysdir is empty, preference is given to a version of
kpsewhich in the same directory as the executable for determining the
correct sysdir. The handling of degenerate normals of Bezier
triangles was fixed. Bugs in forking, INT formatting, dash adjustment,
subpaths, and guide reversion were fixed. Version 1.30 of

Jean-François Burnol submitted an update to the
xint
package.
Version number: 1.2f 2016-03-12
License type: lppl1.3
Summary description: Expandable operations on long numbers
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bug fixes
- squaring macro xintSqr from xintfrac.sty was broken due to a
misspelled sub-macro name. Dates back to 1.1 release of 2014/10/28
:-((.
- 1.2c's fix to the subtraction bug from 1.2 introduced another bug,
which in some cases could create leading zeroes in the output, or
even worse. This could invalidate other routines using subtractions,
like xintiiSquareRoot.
Improvements and new features
- functions binomial, pfactorial and factorial in both INT and
float versions.
- faster implementation and increased accuracy of float power macros.
- faster implementation of both integral and float square root macros.
- the float square root achieves _correct_ (aka _exact_) rounding in
arbitrary precision.
- modified behaviour for the xintPFloat macro, used by
xintthefloatexpr to prettify its output. It now opts for decimal
notation if and only if scientific notation would use an exponent
between -5 and 5 inclusive. The zero value is printed 0. with a dot.
- the documentation offers a more precise (and accurate) discussion of
floating point issues.
- various under-the-hood code improvements; the floatexpr operations
are chained in a faster way, from skipping some unneeded parsing on
results of earlier computations. The absence of a real inner data
structure for floats (incorporating their precisions, for one) is
however still a bit hair rising: currently the lengths of the
mantissas of the operands are computed again by each float macro or
expression operation.
- renewed desperate efforts at improving the documentation by random
shuffling of sections and well thought additions; cuts were
considered and even performed.
