This package provides macros and an environment to generate timing diagrams (digital waveforms) without much effort. The TikZ package is used to produce the graphics. The diagrams may be inserted into text (paragraphs, hbox, etc.) and into tikzpictures. A tabular-like environment is provided to produce larger timing diagrams. However, the command is presented in a form where additional knowledge of the definition of the PDF format is indispensable. This package is an answer to the – occasional – questions in newsgroups, about how one could use the comment function of Adobe Reader. At least for the writer of LATEX code, the package offers a convenient and user-friendly means of using pdfannot to provide comments in PDF files. Since version v1.1, pdfcomment.sty also supports: LaTeX -> dvips -> ps2pdf, LaTeX -> dvipdfmx and XeLaTeX. Unfortunately, support of PDF annotations by PDF viewers is sparse to nonexistent. The reference viewer for the development of this package is Adobe Reader. Thanks, Jim Hefferon Saint Michael's College ------------------------- Announcement ------------------------- I'm happy to announce release 3.3 of Eplain, a set of TeX macros that expands on and extends the definitions in plain TeX in a style-neutral fashion. Eplain's home page is http://tug.org/eplain You can get it off CTAN at http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/eplain The manual is available on-line from CTAN or Eplain's home page, or as a hard-copy from http://www.lulu.com/content/113810 (royalties are donated to the TeX Users Group). Here's an excerpt from the NEWS file. * New commands eqnum and eqalignnum, counterparts of (l)eqno and (l)eqalignno, producing equation numbers which can be uniformly transformed to right-aligned ( ighteqnumbers) or left-aligned (lefteqnumbers). * Eplain has borrowed the eTeX, ExTeX, XeTeX and XeLaTeX logos from tugboat.dtx. * idxnameseparator is now expanded once so that the .idx file contains its contents instead of the macro call. * Non-silent indexing macros have been fixed not to produce a spurious newline when newline's catcode is 13 (active). * Eplain now takes care to unactivate any active characters before typesetting index term in the margin for proofing. * Updated ifpdf.sty. * LaTeX package reloading warnings are now not shown on the terminal. * Documentation improvements. The following information was provided by our fellow contributor: Name of contribution: Chinese Font Metrics Version number: 1 Author's name: Yue Wang Location on CTAN: /fonts Summary description: TFM subfonts files for using Chinese Fonts in 8-bit TeX License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The new version of this package includes the following update: - in order not to mess up TeXLive's map files, now font map lines are loaded runtime through pdfTeX primitives and DVIPDFMx specials. - Since HTH kindly applied a ttc support patch to pdfTeX, now simsun.ttf is renamed to simsun.ttc in the map lines so there is no need for the user to break their ttc fonts manually. Everything should work right out of the box. - a new script, CTeXFonts.lua is included into the scripts directory. This enables the users to convert Chinese TTF files into Type1 subfonts for dvips and dvipdfm.
