On Mon, 20 Jul 2009, Dirk Krause submitted an update to the
bmeps
package.
Bmeps is a library and a command line tool for conversion of different bitmap
graphics types to EPS. It can produce EPS levels 1, 2 and 3. Level 2 allows the
use of run-length compression and ASCII-85-encoding instead of
ASCII-Hex-encoding, while level 3 allows the use of flate compression. TIFF- and
PNG-alpha channels can be converted into EPS level 3 image masks. Modified dvips
sources are included to allow image conversion directly from dvips.

For a long time pdflatex has offered the command pdfannot for inserting

a form where additional knowledge of the definition of the PDF format is
indispensable. This package is an answer to the – occasional – questions
in newsgroups, about how one could use the comment function of Adobe
Reader. At least for the writer of LATEX code, the package offers a
convenient and user-friendly means of using pdfannot to provide comments
in PDF files. Since version v1.1, pdfcomment.sty also supports:
LaTeX -> dvips -> ps2pdf, LaTeX -> dvipdfmx and XeLaTeX.
Unfortunately, support of PDF annotations by PDF viewers is sparse to
nonexistent. The reference viewer for the development of this package is
Adobe Reader.

limitations). In this version we have fixed all the known
bugs and support for lots of LaTeX packages is added. There
is no real documentation at the moment due to my illness but
if you have any question, then please ask it on the XeTeX
mailing list. There are heaps of examples that will help you
understand how this new version works and what features are
added. Unfortunately it proved almost impossible to support
hyperref and color because of XeTeX limitations. For color
support, you are encouraged to use xecolour package instead
using ordinary color and xcolor packages. Also please note
that when you use longtable package with bidi package, in
RTL mode, your tables will not break when a page is finished
and again this is due to XeTeX limitation. Please note that
you always should load bidi package as your last package.

Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In June 2009 www.freefont.de offered a beautiful handwriting font
for free download: The Softmaker Stone Handwriting.
As handwriting fonts are a quite limited resource in the LaTeX world,
i decided to create support files for this beautiful font. Therefore,
Stone Handwriting will be the starting point for the freefont bundle.
Other (beautiful) fonts may be included in future.
License: LPPL (not the font itself)
New in v1.1:
- added LaTeX support for the quite narrow running font: Henderson
Attention: The font is not included! This font is font of the
month (July 2009) and can be downloaded for free at (at least
this month): http://freefont.de
Later you can buy from Softmaker
