Version: 3.0.1 2023-01-10 License: gpl3+ Summary description: Convert DVI, EPS, and PDF files to Scalable Vector Graphics format (SVG) Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dvisvgm 3 is a new major version of the utility. As Ghostscript is going to remove support for the PostScript-based PDF interpreter in favor of a newly implemented C-based one, dvisvgm's previous PDF functionality will stop working. Unfortunately, there's currently no way to retain it with the Ghostscript API. Therefore, I added a new PDF handler based on mutool (https://www.mupdf.com/docs/mutool.html) which hopefully keeps most of dvisvgm's PDF features available. Ghostscript is still required to process PostScript specials and to convert EPS files. Furthermore, the previously bundled FontForge library has been replaced with a dedicated font writer library that is used to create TrueType and WOFF files. While this is a bigger technical change, it shouldn't affect the previous functionality and the quality of the conversion results. The new option --embed-bitmaps now allows for embedding of external images referenced in DVI files into the generated SVG files. By default, only links to the images are added. Finally, the optional filters :even and :odd have been added to option --page which can be used to limit the given page ranges to even and odd page numbers respectively. CTAN packages elegantbook, elegantnote, elegantpaper retracted

Towards the end of 2022 the author of the three elegant* classes told us: “I created these templates in 2013 mainly for Chinese font settings along with some other settings.” As of now, the “ctex package is good enough for Chinese settings”, and the ctexart and ctexbook classes should be used as starting points for Chinese documents. He feels that he no longer has the time to maintain these packages well, so prefers to retract them before they get outdated and buggy. We have therefore agreed to move these packages to CTAN's /obsolete branch (see new URLs below). This means that although the packages will shortly be dropped by TeX Live and MiKTeX, they can still be obtained from the URLs below. Version: License: knuth Summary description: Metric files for the Computer Modern fonts Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This update replaces the contents of https://ctan.org/tex-archive/cm/tfm/ with the 75 TFM files generated from the official Computer Modern Metafont sources. These TFM files have been distributed since the beginning of TeX Live, and in its predecessors, without changes. (Don Knuth does not officially distribute the TFM files.) Somehow, almost all of the cm*.tfm files on CTAN had an extra null byte at the end, dating from their initial creation in 1992, in the early days of CTAN. We (CTAN+me) do not know how that null byte got in there. The result is that tftopl issues a warning on them (There's some extra junk...). Also, this cm/tfm/ directory previously contained some non-CM TFM files, namely dummy.tfm, manfnt.tfm, old_manfnt.tfm, and cmsa10.tfm. The first two are available elsewhere on CTAN, in their respective packages. The latter two we do not know the provenance of, but you can get them from the /obsolete CTAN tree if need be.
