Support for External Files: External files can be declared inside the document and their keywords can be included using the provided Perl script svn-multi.pl. This files count as part of the current file and group. Table of Revisions: A table of revisions can be produced and included which holds the revision information of the complete document, the declared groups and all files. Automatic Declaration of Images as External Files: To not have the trouble of declaring all included images manually as external files an feature is provided to handle them automatically. Currently the 'graphics' (includes 'graphicx') and the 'pgf' package is supported. Automatic Declaration of all Files as Subgroups: All input files can be automatically declared as subgroups (in addition to normal groups) to allow the access of their revision information anywhere in the document. New Style of the Package Manual: The package manual style got redesigned and hyperlinks between the macro description and implementation were added. Additional information for the implementation were provided. All this features can be enabled using package options (some depend on each other) to minimize memory usage. However, the command is presented in a form where additional knowledge of the definition of the PDF format is indispensable. This package is an answer to the – occasional – questions in newsgroups, about how one could use the comment function of Adobe Reader. At least for the writer of LATEX code, the package offers a convenient and user-friendly means of using pdfannot to provide comments in PDF files. TeXshade is an alignment shading software completely written in TeX/LaTeX which can process multiple sequence alignments in the .MSF and the .ALN file format. The code you type should show little more characters than are printed, though you get LaTeX quality. We try to do away with backslashes, technical terms, and curly braces, which (a.o.) may cause musculoskeletal damages at PC keyboards <optional arghh>. 'wiki.sty' addresses general kinds of texts. 'niceverb.sty' is made for documenting LaTeX packages. 'niceverb.sty' especially offers [almost-]WYSIWIG for meta-variables (macro arguments) and for referring to commands (and their syntax) in footnotes, section titles etc. E.g., to typeset the syntax description foo[<opt-arg>]{<mand-arg>} you just type foo[<opt-arg>]{<mand-arg>} !-) One source of inspiration is the markup syntax that is used in editing Wikipedia pages. The package 'wiki.sty' of the bundle offers a very similar syntax as a LaTeX front-end. It suffices for italics, boldface, sectioning, and certain list-like environments. This is also similar to 'easylatex', http.//www.ctan.org/pkg/easylatex which is more powerful and uses Perl. 'wiki.sty', by contrast, is just a LaTeX package, working on any TeX installation. However, the command is presented in a form where additional knowledge of the definition of the PDF format is indispensable. At least for the writer of LATEX code, the package offers a convenient and user-friendly means of using pdfannot to provide comments in PDF files. Since version v1.1, pdfcomment.sty also supports: LaTeX -> dvips -> ps2pdf, LaTeX -> dvipdfmx and XeLaTeX. Unfortunately, support of PDF annotations by PDF viewers is sparse to nonexistent. Note that from this version on biblatex 0.8c is required, so you have to update biblatex as well if you would like to use biblatex-dw 1.2f! -> The biblatex-dw option 'idem' was replaced by the new biblatex option 'idemtracker'. The standard setting is 'idemtracker=constrict'. If you would like to switch off the idem functionality, you can use 'idemtracker=false'. For more information on the 'idemtracker' option see the biblatex manual. - New options 'doi', 'eprint', 'isbn' and 'issn' which can take the values 'true' and 'false'. With these options you can decide whether you want to have printed the corresponding fields or not. The default for these options is 'false' (as was the standard before). - New option 'idemfont' which can take the values 'smallcaps', 'italic', 'bold' and 'normal'. The default for this macro is a comma, followed by the bibstring 'number' and a non-breakable space. CTAN disruption of service at tug.ctan.org

As announced two days ago I have virtualized the services provided by tug.ctan.org. This means that my institution, Saint Michael's College, has allowed me to put the services onto a box that lives in the server room, so that it has uninterrupted power, regular professional backups, etc. (It is also greener.) The system is an intricate combination of baling wire and expectorant, and many of my services had at least a little trouble, but in particular the www services had database trouble (basically, PostgreSQL 8.3 is pickier about foreign keys than the version on which the service previously ran). I believe that most of those are now back. I appreciate folks's patience. Jim Hefferon
