On Wed, 16 Feb 2011 Uwe Lück submitted the
edfnotes
package.
Summary description: critical annotations to footnotes referring by line numbers
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
`edfnotes.sty' extends `ednotes.sty' so that you can
refer even to footnotes of the edited work by line numbers,
building on the accompanying `fnlineno' package in the
`lineno' bundle.
`ednotes.sty' has addressed “scholarly” critical editions
of (hand-written) manuscripts. `edfnotes' additionally
supports critical editions of (printed) works with footnotes.
The package was developed for an edition of Bernard Bolzano's
`Paradoxien des Unendlichen' by Prof. Dr. Dr. Christian Tapp
– a work with some very long footnotes.
As to implementation, certain core parts of ednotes have
been reimplemented entirely, this may later migrate into
`ednotes.sty' itself. It had been hoped that `edfnotes' could
build on the `bigfoot' package. This might have improved
(automatic) page breaking and placement of original footnotes
and critical annotations (whereas at present, some page breaks
need manual trial-and-error solutions). However, analysis of
`lineno' and `ednotes' for extending them, as well as many
unexpected difficulties, exhausted project resources too early.
David Kastrup's MakeSorted has here been implemented by
inserting annotations to footnotes at the last main text line
of a page only, hooking into lineno's numbering mechanism –
a nice (leight-weight – ?) alternative to David Kastrup's
approach.
This work of a few weeks was possible due to major support by
the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, organized by Christian
Tapp.

On Wed, 16 Feb 2011 Martin Scharrer submitted an update to the
ydoc
package.
Summary description: Added short version of MacroArgs and Macro, similar to 'shortvrb'
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
About ydoc
=======
The 'ydoc' class and packages provide a modern way to
document packages. They are thought as an alternative to
'ltxdoc' & 'doc'.
The 'y' is both a pun on 'xdoc' as well as stands for
'Yet another package documentation package'.
This package is currently in the alpha stage, but already
used for the manuals of the authors other packages. The
implementation is not yet fully complete and might change in
future releases. It is published on CTAN mainly to allow
others to build the mentioned manuals.
Changes:
======
Added possibility to define single-character versions of
MacroArgs and Macro, similar to the short verbatim
characters provided by 'shortvrb'.
(Please note that most updates to this package are not
announced on CTAN. )

On Wed, 16 Feb 2011 Uwe Lück submitted the
fnlineno
package.
Summary description: numbering footnote lines, including linelabel support
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
fnlineno.sty extends lineno.sty such that even
footnote lines are numbered and can be referred
to using linelabel,
ef, etc.
It has been motivated as support for critical editions
of printed works with footnotes, as opposed to scholarly
critical editions of manuscripts. For this purpose, an
extension edfnotes of the ednotes package for critical
editions, building on fnlineno, is provided in a
different directory.
lineno.sty has also been used for the revision process of
submissions. With fnlineno.sty, reference to footnotes in
the submitted work may become possible.
As to implementation, the method of typesetting footnotes
on the main vertical list may later lead to applying the
line numbering method to several parallel texts (with
footnotes) and to `inner' material such as table cells.
This work of some weeks, including approaches that failed,
was possible due to major support by the Deutsche
Forschungsgemeinschaft, organized by Christian Tapp.
The lineno bundle still needs reworking ...

Summary description: PT Serif font and LaTeX support.
License type: other-free
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This package contains LaTeX support for the font PT Sans.
- In the TeX Font Metric files changed the width of some accented letters
(the width is now exactly the same as that of the respective
unaccented letter). It was done just for the encoding IL2 and not
for T1. Here is the list of changes:
PT Serif Bold: Lcaron, tcaron
PT Serif Bold Italic: Lcaron
The letter tcaron in PT Serif Bold was narrower than t!
The changes in PT Serif are smaller than changes in PT Sans.

- In the fonts/enc/ and fonts/map directories omitted the paratype level
(suggested by Karl Berry).
- Changed style files in this way:
1) Added an option to scale the fonts. In the font definition files
was support for it but not in the style files. It was caused
by creating simpler style files than those created by autoinst
from fontools (they were created because the original files
required the package fontenc with all supported encodings --
which might be a problem).
2) Style files do not change neither familydefault nor fdefault.
There are font substitutions in the font definition files now.
Both suggested by Ricard Torres. Used his patches (based on Walter
Schmidt's macros) for PTSans.sty and T1PTSans-TLF.fd. The changes

License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Changelog:
* Better handling of code comments:
- Comments direct before a macro or environment definition
are now placed inside the corresponding
description environment before `egin{macrocode}`.
- Separate comment lines stay as they are and will be normal
text in the .DTX file.
- Commented text inside definitions will cause the `macrocode`
environment to be interrupted and reopened afterwards.
- Code lines which are commented out (i.e. are indented and
there is no space after the '%' sign) will stay as part of
the macro code.
* Added '-c' (generate code section only) option. This resembles
the output of v1.0 and is useful to insert more code into
exisiting .DTX files.
* Config files can now include comment lines as well.
These lines must start with '%' or '#'.

Summary description: Use the text font in simple mathematics
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The mathastext package propagates the document text font to
mathematical mode, for the letters of the Latin alphabet
and, optionally, other characters in the font. Thus it makes
possible (for a document with simple mathematics) to use a
quite arbitrary text font without worrying too much that no
specially designed accompanying maths fonts are available.
The package also offers a simple mechanism for using many
different choices of (text hence, now, math) font in the
same document. Of course, using one font for two purposes
helps produce smaller PDF files.

Caption: Minimal markup for simple text (Wikipedia style) and

Description: Nicetext bundle offers “minimal” markup syntax for various
simple kinds of text. The code you type should involve little more
than is printed, and you still get LaTeX quality.
The bundle provides four packages:
*'wiki' addresses general texts, marked up in the simple style
used on Wikipedia;
*'niceverb' is yet another means of documenting LaTeX packages: it
offers syntax-aware typesetting of meta-variables (macro arguments)
and for referring to commands (and their syntax) in footnotes, section
titles etc.;
*'fifinddo' aims to parse plain text or (La)TeX files using TeX,
and to write the results to an external file. This generalises the
philosophy behind docstrip: the package aims at practical application,
and is used by
*'makedoc', which provides the means to typeset package files.

Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The mathastext package propagates the document text font to
mathematical mode, for the letters of the Latin alphabet and,
optionally, some further ASCII-127 characters. Thus it makes
possible (for a document with simple mathematics) to use a quite
arbitrary font without worrying too much that it does not have
specially designed accompanying math fonts. Also, mathastext
provides a simple mechanism in order to use many different
choices of (text hence, now, math) fonts in the same
document (not that we recommend it!). A final aspect is that
mathastext helps produce smaller PDF files.
