Version number: 1.5.3

Casper Ti. Vector submitted an update to the
pkuthss
package.
Version number: 1.5.0
License type: other-free
Summary description: LaTeX template for dissertations in Peking University
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Changes (relative to v1.4 rc4)
------------------------------
* Changes to package code:
- pkuthss.cls: do not disable `uppercase' in `nouppermark' mode.
* Changes to example template:
- Split from documentation.
- Also offer pdf for the example template.
* Changes to documentation:
- Remove support for CRLF (except for Windows .bat's), as required by CTAN.
- Relicense to LPPL v1.3+ (not including the example template).
* Misc:
- Switch to the x.y.z version scheme, thus no longer use alpha/beta/rc.
- Minor fixes and improvements.
Details and trivia
------------------
* The most important change is that we now offer a template
that is much simpler than previous versions, because the
template is now separated from the documentation.
* Another significant change is that we now use the `x.y.z'
version scheme rather than `1.4 alpha1' or so, because we
realise that our release cycle is really non-deterministic,
and the new scheme is more more flexible and suitable for us.
* In fact, v1.4 is released as an intermediate version earlier
today, but not uploaded because CTAN does not seem to host
coexistent versions of the same package ;)

Alan Davidson submitted the
logicproof
package.
Version date: 2014/03/20
License type: lppl
Summary description: Box proofs for propositional and predicate logic
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
First public release
A common style of proof used in propositional and predicate
logic is Fitch proofs, in which each line of the proof has a
statement and a justification, and subproofs within a larger
proof have boxes around them. This package provides
environments for making such proofs and boxes. It creates
proofs in a style similar to the one used in Logic in Computer
Science by Huth and Ryan.
When I took a logic class in college, the professor lamented
that there wasn't a good way to make these box proofs in LaTeX,
and suggested that the class write up their assignments in
LaTeX without boxes, print them out, and draw the boxes in by
hand before turning them in. Unsatisfied with this approach, I
created some macros to draw these boxes in LaTeX itself. I
shared that code with the professor, who liked it enough to
share it with the rest of the class.
It's been nearly a decade since then, and I have recently
discovered that not only are people still using my old code,
its use has spread to other colleges. I had assumed that in the
intervening time, a professional logician would have made and
published a better implementation, but that doesn't seem to
have happened. This is an improved version of my old code, with
several problems fixed and a more standardized syntax.

Summary description: Create handout for auditors of a talk
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In some fields of scholarship, a beamer does not offer good
support when giving a talk in a proceeding. For example, in
classical philology, the main sources are text, and it will be
better to distribute a handout to the audience with extracts of
the texts about which we will talk.
The package supports preparation of such handouts when writing the
talk.

weights (regular, medium, and bold) with corresponding italics,
plus light and thin upright (without italics).
Clear Sans has minimized, unambiguous characters and slightly
narrow proportions, making it ideal for UI design. Its strong,
recognizable forms avoid distracting ambiguity, making Clear
Sans comfortable for reading short UI labels and long passages
in both screen and print.

package.
Version number: 3.9i
License type: lppl1.3
Summary description: Multilingual support for Plain TeX or LaTeX.
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's new
~~~~~~~~~~
- With LuaTeX, spaces are not ignored after shorthands and closing
braces can follow them.
- extlatin and friends are deprecated. For the logos (see below) a
new macro is used if necessary (ensureascii), so extlatin is not
used in the core any more.
- abelensure can be used to wrap caption texts with
foreignlanguage, as well as to enforce an encoding.
- abeltags is just for syntactical sugar, and defines macros with
short names to switch the language (eg, extdeu and deu).
- Bug fixed -- The logos TeX and LaTeX were typeset in a wrong font
in some cases. Now if a non-ASCII font is not loaded they are not
redefined at all.
- Partial compatibility with languages named as lang@ instead
of l@ (plain etex/xetex/luatex).
- Bug fixed -- bl@allowhyphens is now ignored in vertical mode.
- Bug fixed -- Loops with @for failed in Plain.
- Bug fixed -- A few codes in xetex where wrong when loading patterns.
- Bug fixed -- With strings=encoded captions were left unchanged in
MakeUppercase/MakeLowercase.
Playfair Display is well suited for titling and headlines. It
has an extra large x-height and short descenders. It can be set
with no leading if space is tight, for instance in news
headlines, or for stylistic effect in titles. Capitals are
extra short, and only very slightly heavier than the lowercase
characters. This helps achieve a more even typographical colour
when typesetting proper nouns and initialisms.
This is version 1.0 of chemnum.
For this update the package has been rewritten from scratch.
There are various changes some of which will break existing
documents. (I have struggled with this decision for a while but
then chemnum /has/ been in an experimental stage before,
so...). While the new version undoubtedly has new bugs its
syntax won't change anymore. So at least from the perspective
of a user v1.0 is supposed to be stable :)
Version number: 4.04
License type: lppl
Summary description: Create glossaries and lists of acronyms.
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
* glossaries.sty:
- There are now three ways of creating glossaries:
(1) using makeindex;
(2) using xindy;
uses the new commands: makenoidxglossaries,
printnoidxglossary and printnoidxglossaries
(Analogous to makeglossaries, printglossary
and printglossaries).
This new method allows independent sort methods for
individual glossaries, which isn't available for the
makeindex/xindy methods.
Jean-François Burnol submitted an update to the
etoc
package.
Version number: 1.07k
License type: lppl
Summary description: Completely customisable TOCs
Announcement text:
Etoc and tocloft may now be used concurrently in the same
document. In compatibility mode, etoc will obey the customizing
done by tocloft both for the contents and the title of the
table of contents; etoc's depth tags, localtableofcontents,
label+ref mechanism are functional. It is possible to use etoc
contents and title styles for one TOC and tocloft's for another
one (tocloft should be loaded before etoc, else a warning will
be issued.)
Also, better compatibility with the memoir class,
and one more example of etoc line styles specification has been
added to the documentation.
Clea F. Rees submitted an update to the
cfr-lm
package.
Version number: 1.4
License type: lppl
Summary description: Enhanced support for the Latin Modern fonts
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Adds experimental support for family-specific settings if
microtype is used.
More specifically, defines aliases for all roman and sans
families, including quotation sans, which should load the
settings defined for Computer Modern Roman. This follows the
config for Latin Modern as far as roman is concerned. It
extends the support so far as sans is concerned in accordance
with the discussion at
http://tex.stackexchange.com/a/75440/39222.
I'm not sure I've done this correctly but I don't think it
should break anything. (That is, I don't think the results will
be worse than with version 1.3 and hope they will be better.)
Should stuff break, the relevant code is in a block at the end
of cfr-lm.sty so that it can be easily disabled. Should you
find this fact to your advantage, do please let me know.
Till Tantau submitted an update to the
pgf / TikZ
package.
Version number: 3.0.0
License type: Dual: LPPL and alternatively GPL/GFDL
Summary description: A graphics language for TeX
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am happy to announce version 3.0.0 of TikZ/pgf. After several years
of development work in the background, a new version is finally ready.
With the big jump in the version number from 2.10 to 3.0.0 a lot of
new stuff has been added to TikZ (since the last version, over a
thousand lines have been added to the change log...). However, care
was taken to make sure that in normal circumstances all old code will
still produce the exact same results as it used to.
It is impossible to list all the changes and improvements, so let me
just point out some hilights:
- Arrow Tips: You can now configure the appearance of arrow
tip to death and do so on the fly. Arbitrary arrow tips will now
even bend along curves since TikZ can now do curvilinear
transformations on a very low level.
- Syntax Improvements: A lot of small things have been added and
improved in the syntax. For instance, nodes can be in front of
paths, but now also behind them. There is the new notion of a small
picture called a pic, which is something of a mixture of a node
and a picture.
- A Syntax for Graphs: There is now a new simple syntax for specifying
graphs, borrowed from the GraphViz program. It makes it easy
to specify graphs and especially trees in a convenient manner.
- Graph Drawing Algorithms: TikZ now comes with a large and powerful
system for computing the positions of nodes of graphs automatically
(you need LuaTeX for this, though).
- Data Visualization: There is now an alternative to pgfplots as part
of the standard TikZ installation for creating plots. While pgfplots
is still the more mature system, the new data visualization system
comes with some interesting new ideas.
- Driver Support: Support for all mayor backend drivers has been
improved. A new, cool thing is the support for dvisvgm, which
allows you to create powerful SVG graphics directly from TeX,
including the text.
luamplib
package.
Version number: 2.5.2
License type: gpl
Summary description: Use LuaTeX's built-in METAPOST interpreter
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
v2.5.2
- Now btex ... etex input from external *.mp files will also
be processed by luamplib. However, verbatimtex ... etex will
be entirely ignored in this case. Introduced at v2.5 but not
announced for a technical issue.
- For the new functionality above, luamplib inspects each and
every .mp input files and make caches if necessary. As this
will sometimes waste time resources uselessly, new macros
mplibmakenocache{...} and mplibcancelnocache{...} are
provided, so that users can instruct those input files that
do not need this routine.
- Added a hack to support graph.mp (in fact, format.mp)
- [fix] luamplib now respects percent sign when it is enclosed
by quotes, as it is not a comment sign but a string token.
