Summary description: A testing and building system for (La)TeX

Release 2017-04-01
Boolean functions
-----------------
This release marks the functions
- ool_lazy_all:n(TF)
- ool_lazy_and:nn(TF)
- ool_lazy_any:n(TF)
- ool_lazy_or:nn(TF)
as stable. This will be followed at a later date by a change in
ool_if:n(TF), which will move to being greedy: this change is
necessary as there are circumstances under which ool_if:n(TF)
currently fails with a low-level error due to lazy evaluation.
Package authors are encouraged to consider employing these new
functions where appropriate.
Version identifiers
-------------------
From this release the SVN $Id lines are removed from LaTeX3 sources.
The function GetIdInfo is deprecated from this release, and the
team recommend that package authors include version information
directly in ProvidesExplPackage (or similar) lines.
l3build

Robert Alessi submitted an update to the
arabluatex
package.
Version number: 1.8.2 2017-04-02
License type: gpl3+ cc-by-sa-4.0
Summary description: An ArabTeX-like interface for LuaLaTeX
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
arabluatex v1.8.2:
As of v1.8, arabluatex supports the so-called 'arabica' transliteration
standard (/Journal of Arabic and Islamic Studies/, published by Brill).
This release fixes several bugs that have found their way into v1.8 by
domino effect:
- tāʾ marbūṭah was wrongly interpreted before ʾiʿrāb when arbup was
active in dmg mode;
- -ī/-īyah were not parsed correctly in 'dmg' mode. 'loc' and 'arabica'
rules needed to be more robust as well;
And also into v1.8.1:
- ʾalif maqṣūrah being wrongly interpreted from buckwalter letter 'Y'
to 'arabica' transliteration;
- cap being discarded in transliterated sequences when they were
inserted into non-transliterated Arabic environments or commands.
v1.9 will include more layouts of Arabic poetry, and as of v2.0
arabluatex should be able to produce TEI xml outputs.

Version number: 2017-03-28
License type: lppl1.3
Summary description: Extensions to the LaTeX NFSS
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fixes a bug which prevented mstyle and vstyle working correctly if
the current font was not a serif family. (Especially problematic in
Beamer where
ormalfont cannot be used as a workaround, but annoying
elsewhere.)
Provides something a bit closer to real documentation. The
documentation assumes knowledge of NFSS because, if anybody ever uses
this besides me, I would expect it to be in the way I use it i.e. to
support a font support package with proper end-user documentation. The
package itself is not intended for direct use by end-users, but is
designed rather to facilitate the creation of more sophisticated font
support packages.

* Now has three .jar files depending on the Java installation:
- texosquery-jre8.jar
Full application. May be used with the CLDR locale provider
(Unicode Consortium's Common Locale Data Repository).
Requires at least Java 8 (use with
java -Djava.locale.providers=CLDR,JRE or
add java.locale.providers=CLDR,JRE to the
JAVA_TOOLS_OPTIONS environment variable to access the CLDR)
- texosquery.jar
The default version of the application. Can't be used with
CLDR. Less locale support. Requires at least Java 7.
- texosquery-jre5.jar
Cut-down version of the application with significantly less
locale support. Provided for old systems that can't upgrade,
but not recommended. (Use of Java 5 or 6 is deprecated.)
Requires at least Java 5.
* New texosquery.cfg configuration file. Edit the definition
of TeXOSInvokerName to indicate which application you
need to use. For example, if Java 8 is installed:
defTeXOSInvokerName{texosquery-jre8}
See the installation section of the manual for further details.
* New command line switches.
* Actions --list (-i) and --filterlist (-f) now have an
optional argument to indicate the sort order.
* When accessing file information, the TEXMF openin_any
setting is first checked to determine if read access is
permitted.
* Returned values now include some shorthand markup that's
internally converted when read in by TeXOSQuery. For
example texosquery -n now returns
pdfd fcln 20161113161156fpls 00fcsq 00fcsq
instead of
D:20161113161156+00'00'
To restore the original behaviour use --compatible 1
See manual for further details.

Gray hints, as I term them, are text that appears initially in a text
field that gives a short hint as to what the contents of the text field
should be; for example, a text field might contain the hint 'First
Name', or a date field might read 'yyyy/mm/dd'. As soon as the field
comes into focus, the hint disappears. It reappears when the field is
blurred and the user did not enter any text into the field.

Student Handouts
package.
Version: 1.0 2017-03-15
License: lppl1.3
Summary description: Management and styling of student handout projects
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Student Handouts package, studenthandouts, is used to generate
a single master document that contains a set of individual student
handouts. The package has two main functions.
First, it provides a simple framework for organizing handout source
code, and supplies a set of import management tools for selectively
importing a subset of the handouts into the master document.
Selective import is convenient when compilation of all of the handouts
is unnecessary, for example when working on a new handout.
As a secondary feature, the package defines a basic visual style
for handouts. This style can be easily changed.

John Bowman submitted an update to the
asymptote
package.
Version number: 2.40
License type: lgpl3
Summary description: 2D and 3D TeX-Aware Vector Graphics Language
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Asymptote <http://asymptote.sourceforge.net> is a powerful descriptive
vector graphics language for technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost
but with an improved C++-like syntax. Asymptote provides for figures
the same high-quality level of typesetting that LaTeX does for
scientific text.
A partial workaround for the OpenGL transparency bug was implemented,
by presorting transparent triangles of the same material. The examples
were updated and a segmentation fault was fixed. Multisample detection,
surface rendering, and crack filling algorithms were fixed. The default
compilation flags now specify -std=c++11.
