CTAN Update: TeXshade v1.17
by CTAN Announcements 20 Jun '07

20 Jun '07

On Wed, 20 Jun 2007 at 16:16 +0200, Eric Beitz submitted an update to the texshade package. TeXshade is an alignment shading software completely written in TeX/LaTeX which can process multiple sequence alignments in the .MSF and the .ALN file format. It provides in addition to common shading algorithms special shading modes featuring functional aspects, e.g. charge or hydropathy, and a plenitude of commands for handling shading colours, text styles, labels, legends and even allows the user to define completely new shading modes. TeXshade combines highest flexibility and the habitual TeX output quality-with reasonable time expenditure. Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/texshade/ License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This TeXshade update introduces to new groups of commands to the DNA and protein sequence alignment LaTeX package which allow one a) to set a second threshold percentage for labeling two levels of sequence conservation, i.e. `allmatchspecial' becomes more flexible, and b) to put describing names left or right from feature lines and individually change their color and font styles. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This package is located at http://dante.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/texshade . More information is at http://tug.ctan.org/info/?id=texshade (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear). We are supported by the TeX Users Group http://www.tug.org . CTAN package update: cleveref
by CTAN Announcements 17 Jun '07

17 Jun '07

The package below has been updated on tug.ctan.org and should soon be at your favorite mirror. Thanks again, Jim Hefferon Saint Michael's College ............................................................................. The following information was provided by our fellow contributor: Name of contribution: cleveref Author's name: Toby Cubitt Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/cleveref/ Summary description: Automatic cross-reference formatting. License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This release includes a new poorman's cleveref option. When the option is supplied, the LaTeX document is processed as usual. But in addition, a sed script is written containing rules for replacing all the cleveref cross-reference commands with the text that they expand to. Running the LaTeX source through this sed script creates a version of the source that produces identical dvi or pdf output, but no longer requires the cleveref package. This allows all the features of cleveref to be used in LaTeX documents intended for distribution to places that do not support the cleveref package, for example for submission to academic journals. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This package is located at http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/cleveref/ . More information is at http://tug.ctan.org/cgi-bin/ctanPackageInformation.py?id=cleveref (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear). CTAN Update: Version 1.18 of pgf/TikZ
by CTAN Announcements 15 Jun '07

15 Jun '07

On Wed, 13 Jun 2007 Till Tantau submitted version 1.18of his PGF/TikZ package. Location on CTAN: /graphics/pgf License: Mixed LPPL/GPL/FDL PGF is a macro package for creating graphics. It is platform- and format-independent and works together with the most important TeX backend drivers, including pdftex and dvips. It comes with a user-friedly syntax layer called TikZ. Its usage is similar to pstricks and the standard picture environment. Unlike pstricks, it can produce either PostScript or PDF output, and works with plain (pdf-)TeX, (pdf-)LaTeX, and ConTeXt. Release notes: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This new version of pgf/TikZ contains new features and fixes a number of bugs. A notable new feature is the new math library due to Mark Wibrow, which allows you to use fancy mathematical expressions directly inside TikZ. This release also includes a matrix library, which simplifies alignments. There are now commands that allow you to extract pictures into separate files more asily. Some users will also enjoy the new calendar support. Finallly, if you have always been looking for an easy way to create a triangular shape, have a look at Mark's regular polygon shape. Although this version should already be perfectly usable and reasonably bug-free, it is still a beta-version. Release 1.20 will be the next stable version. I will release it within a few weeks, once I got feedback on this version. Change log: Version 1.18: - Added regular polygon and start shapes (by Mark Wibrow). - Added graphic externalization commands. - Added barycentric coordinate system. - Added direct TikZ plotting of function based on math engine. - Added math documentation into main documentation. - Added Mark Wibrow's math library. - Added calendar support. - Added matrix stuff. - Added automatic driver selection for xetex. - Added growth parent anchor option. - Fixed superfluous spaces in quick math parse code - Fixed superfluous ewboxes in math and image code - Fixed mth parser to recognize wdmybox. - Fixed wrong pgfmathsetrandomseed - Fixed wrong pgfmathradians@ - Fixed problems with long mantissa and plain tex math code. - Fixed things so that setlength works in pictures, once more. - Fixed selectfont problem in pdfsys-dvipdfm.def - Fixed problem with lost lastx/lasty in foreach in TikZ. - Fixed snake+rectangle+transform problem. - Fixed rectangle+rounded corner problem. - Fixed postscrip eofill1 problem. - Fixed amsmath/pgf clash because of wrong definition of : - Fixed size of hyperlinks inside nodes. - Fixed ConTeXt problem in pgfbaseplot. - Fixed .aux problems in plain and ConTeXt mode. Using .pgf as extension now. _______________________________________________ This package is located at http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/pgf/ .
