MFpic defines a command group mfpic...endmfpic (in LaTeX an environment, mfpic) and drawing commands to be used inside this group. When TeX (or LaTeX) is run on a file containing those commands, a Metafont (or MetaPost) source file is created. When that file is orrectly processed by Metafont (or MetaPost), and LaTeX or TeX is run again, the result is a figure in the TeX document at the location of each environment. The main new features are more flexible arrow creation macros and a few new path rendering commands: zigzag, sinewave and coil. CTAN update: ascii package version 2.0

On Tue, 30 May 2006, Apostolos Syropoulos submitted version 2.0 of the ascii package. This package makes available the graphical reprensentation of the ASCII characters as defined in the IBM PC Code Page 437 C0 Graphics. Tobias Oetiker has provided updates to the english version of the lshort short introduction to latex; after a couple of false starts between us, the version is now 4.20 the changes file shows: * section headings should be leftaligned * added notes on amsthm suggested by Daniel Flipo * improved explanation ifpdf package * use extasciigrave for ` and extquotesingle for ' by Tahir Hassan * Reworde the mentioning of the preamble where I introduce the comment command. * updated eurofonts again based on Daniel Flipo's work for the french lshort * we should use utf8x for inputenc * mention unicode option for hyperref * mention active language after calling usepackage bable with multiple languages * Added section on writing greek text by Nikolaos Pothitos thanks for the upload, tobi; the package is on its way around the globe, and i've updated the catalogue. Name of contribution: mf2pt1 Author's name: Scott Pakin Location on CTAN: /support/mf2pt1 Summary description: Produce PostScript Type 1 fonts from Metafont source License type: lppl Announcement text given by the package's contributor: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mf2pt1 facilitates producing PostScript Type 1 fonts from a Metafont source file. mf2pt1's advantage over tools such as TeXtrace and mftrace is that it does not rely on bitmap tracing and therefore can produce higher-quality Type 1 fonts than trace-based tools. The catch is that mf2pt1 imposes a number of restrictions on the Metafont input so it is not, as the name may imply, an automatic converter of arbitrary Metafont fonts to Type 1 format.
