These are mainly to emulate the features of the mcite package of Thorsten Ohl, which is otherwise incompatible with natbib. All this is to allow the upcoming new release of REVTeX to function properly. The new features allow references to be merged within the bibliography listing itself. They require special BibTeX style files, provided by the APS.
