Arrays can contain characters as well as TeX and LaTeX commands, nesting of arrays is possible, and arrays are processed within the same brace level as their surrounding environment. Array levels can be delimited by characters or control sequences defined by the user. CTAN Update: Package xbase moved

Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/project/xbase Summary description: Update and move of xbase License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The xbase bundle provides the packages xparse and template, and the support package ldcsetup. The packages require expl3 to be installed. The xparse provides a high-level interface for declaring document commands, e.g., a uniform way to define commands taking optional arguments, optional stars (and others), mandatory arguments and more. The template package provides an interface for defining generic functions using a key=val syntax. The ldcsetup package used to establish prototype LaTeX3 coding conventions, needed by xparse and xbase, but is now slowly being stripped in favor of functionality added to expl3. The LaTeX Team has decided to move xbase from macros/latex/exptl/project to macros/latex/contrib/project to indicate that the code is now less volatile and can be used in everyday use. Changes will happen with time but we feel that in its present state it is quite usable. All files are also available in the Subversion (SVN) repository of the LaTeX3 Project, which is located at http://www.latex-project.org/svnroot/experimental/trunk The bundle on CTAN is a snapshot of the SVN repository as of 2008/06/20. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This package is located at http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/project/xbase . Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/project/expl3 Summary description: Update and move of expl3 License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The expl3 bundle is the foundation on which the LaTeX3 kernel and other advanced extensions are built. They provide an API for TeX programmers. Each module is set up in such a way that it can be used with regular LaTeX2e packages even though the coding style is somewhat different. The LaTeX Team has decided to move expl3 from macros/latex/exptl/project to macros/latex/contrib/project to indicate that the code is now less volatile and can be used in everyday use. The following information was provided by our fellow contributor: Name of contribution: Hyphenation Patterns in UTF-8 Author's name: Jonathan Kew, Mojca Miklavec, Arthur Reutenauer Location on CTAN: language/hyph-utf8 Summary description: Hyphenation patterns have been converted into UTF-8 and should serve as a replacement for the old patterns without any change in functionality. The patterns should be considered upstream replacement that will be used in TeX Live and other distrubutions instead of loding the old files. License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Native UTF-8 engines such as XeTeX and LuaTeX have urged the need to provide hyphenation patterns in UTF-8 format. These patterns should replace the old ones eventually. This is the first upload to CTAN that will enable testing for TeX Live 2008 and is not yet set in stone. In particular we still want to change all the copyright notes in patterns, and add some documentation. SVN repository is available on http://www.tug.org/svn/texhyphen.
