On Fri, 9 May 2008 Alexander Grahn submitted an update to the animate package for creating portable PDF animations from graphics files and inline graphics. The package provides an interface to create portable, JavaScript driven PDF animations from sets of graphics files or from inline graphics, such as LaTeX picture environment, PSTricks or pgf/TikZ generated pictures, or just from typeset text. Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/animate License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Animations produced with this updated version of animate.sty can now be played in the current Adobe Reader 8 at a reasonable speed as well. You might want to experiment with the graphical hardware acceleration feature that was introduced in Reader 8. Go to menu `Edit'-->`Preferences'-->`Page Display'-->`Rendering' to see whether hardware acceleration is available. A 2D GPU acceleration check box will be visible if a supported video card has been detected. (This is currently a Windows-only feature, though.) Feedback is highly welcome, as in my case (different platform + unsupported video card) there is no hardware acceleration available. CTAn Update: mhequ

On Thu, 1 May 2008 Martin Hairer submitted an update to the mhequ package. MHequ simplifies creating multi-column equation environments, and tagging the equations therein. It supports sub-numbers of blocks of equations (like (1.2a), (1.2b), etc) and references to each equation individually (1.2a) or to the whole block (1.2). The labels can be shown in draft mode. Documents are set up with options, thus making the class easily adaptable to user's wishes and extensible for other document types. CTAN Update: ctable 1.13

On Wed, 30 Apr 2008 Wybo Dekker submitted an update to the ctable package. ctable.sty provides commands to easily typeset centered or left or right aligned tables and (multiple-)figure floats, with footnotes. Instead of an environment, a command with 4 arguments is used; the first is optional and is used for key,value pairs generating variations on the defaults and offering a route for future extensions.
