Name of contribution: PerlTeX
Author's name: Scott Pakin
Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/perltex/
Summary description: Define LaTeX macros in terms of Perl code
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PerlTeX is a combination Perl script (perltex.pl) and LaTeX2e style
file (perltex.sty) that, together, give the user the ability to
define LaTeX macros in terms of Perl code. Once defined, a Perl
macro becomes indistinguishable from any other LaTeX macro.
PerlTeX thereby combines LaTeX's typesetting power with Perl's
programmability.
This version (1.5) should run faster on operating systems that
support persistent named pipes: Linux, Unix, Mac OS X (untested) --
not Windows.

Summary description: LaTeX2e package providing a new class for building
conference proceedings.
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The confproc package is a LaTeX document-class for building conference
proceedings. Version 0.4e enhances the package and fixes several issues:
- package:
- redefine hebibliography to avoid inserting a phantom item to set
the introductory paragraph (thanks to Will Robertson);
- redefine frontmatter, mainmatter, ackmatter, ableofcontents,
etc, to take into acount layout and formatting issues;
- page layout defined with the geometry package (thanks to Will Robertson)
- bug correction: have hypersetup evaluated only at the document
beginning (then taking into account the user changes in the PDF
metadata);
- remove formatting from footer and name-like commands: author,
title, etc. (thanks to Will Robertson);
- use mathptmx package instead of times package, and nth package instead
of extsuperscript command (thanks to Will Robertson);
- allows to insert 1-page long papers (did not work in v0.3 and previous);
- instead of replacing each paper’s last page by the list of its
bibliography items, print them on top of the header of the last page;
- documentation: changes history re-organized using macro environment
- example updated:
- to account for those changes (shorter code)
- .bib files included (were missing in v0.3)!

On Tue, 9 Oct 2007 Markus Kohm submitted a new version of the
koma-script
bundle.
The KOMA-Script bundle provides drop-in replacements for the
article/report/book classes with emphasis on typography and versatility.
There is also a letter class, different from all other letter classes.
It also offers e.g. a package for calculated type areas in the way laid
down by the typographer Jan Tschichold, a package for easily changing and
defining of page styles, a package for getting not only the current date
but also the name of day and a package for getting current time. All
these packages may be used not only with KOMA-Script classes but also with
standard classes.

Announcement text:

KOMA-Script 2007/09/28 v2.97c
Copyright (c) Markus Kohm , 1994-2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------
KOMA-Script is a versatile bundle of LaTeX2e document classes and
packages. It aims to be a replacement to the standard LaTeX2e
classes. KOMA-Script does not stop with the features known from
the standard classes, but it extends the possibilities in order to
provide the user an almost complete working environment.

For installation see INSTALL.txt (english) or INSTALLD.txt
(german, UTF-8).
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Changes at 2.97c:
- improved english manual (almost everything is new)
- handling of pseudo-lengths improved (if you are using e-TeX)
- option handling improved (new implementation)
- some fixes

defining of additional authors and their associated colour. It also allows
you to define a markup for authors or annotations.
