On Sun, 7 Jan 2007, Apostolos Syropoulos submitted a new package
philokalia
for typesetting the Philokalia Books to CTAN.

font and an accompanying XeLaTeX package.
The font started as a project to digitize the typeface
used to typeset the Philokalia books. See

pdftex.def
file.
Location on CTAN: graphics/pdftex/pdftex.def
License: LPPL
Changes:
* Support for JBIG2 added (pdfTeX 1.40.0).
* Bug fix: .mps forgotten for extension list if pdfTeX >= 1.40.0
* .jbig2 and .jb2 are not listed in the extension list
if pdfminorversion < 4. Thus pdfminorversion should have
the correct value, if pdftex.def is loaded.

On Fri, 5 Jan 2007, Dirk Krause submitted version 2.0.0 of the
bmeps
package.
Location on CTAN: /support/bmeps
Summary description: Converter from PNG/JPEG/Tgb81AIFF/NetPBM to EPS and PDF
License type: bsd
Announcement text:
> ----------------------------------------------------------------------
> The bmeps program was rewritten completely.
> Advantages from a users point of view:
> - Bmeps can produce PS/EPS and PDF now.
> - Easier configuration. Simply type
> bmeps -leps2 input.png output.eps
> instead of the former
> bmeps -p 2 -c -e r8 input.png output.eps
> - Better compression:
> - Use of the multiple data sources feature
> allows run-length compression of horizontal
> lines in the same color. Previous versions
> allowed run-length compression only for
> gray lines.
> - Pass-through of JPEG files. If bmeps successfully
> analyzes a JPEG file it uses the file contents
> directly as DCT-encoded data and only adds
> ASCII-Hex- or ASCII85-encoding. If the analysis
> function fails the program uses the JPEG library
> to read the image and uses the combination of
> run-length-, flate- and ASCII-Hex/ASCII85-encoding
> to produce output.
> Advantages from my point of view:
> - Using the dklibs libary set allows to combine
> different encoding/compression methods easier than
> in previous versions of bmeps.
> - Grouping image reading functions in a separated
> library (dkbif library from the dklibs library set)
> makes it easier to add new file types.

On Wed, 3 Jan 2007, Martin Gieseking submitted an update to the
dvisvgm
package.
Dvisvgm is a command line utility that converts TeX DVI files to
the XML-based Scalable Vector Graphics format. The initial (limited)
realease 0.3 provides basic functionality that will be extended in
future versions. Users will need a working TeX installation
including the kpathsea library and Type 1 versions of the fonts
used in the DVI file. Dvisvgm has been successfully tested with
both teTeX and MikTeX.
Location on CTAN: /dviware/dvisvgm
Summary description: minor update of dvisvgm
License type: gpl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a minor dvisvgm update. I have added support for MiKTeX 2.5 and fixed a compilation issue caused by a freetype API change.
Precompiled binaries for Windows can be downloaded from the project page http://dvisvgm.sourceforge.net

On Tue, 2 Jan 2007, Heiko Oberdiek submitted a new version of
pdftex.def
Location on CTAN: graphics/pdftex/pdftex.def
License: LPPL
Latest changes:
% 2007/01/01 v0.04a (HO)
% * Support of color stack, introduced in pdfTeX 1.40.0.
% * Support of transform matrix commands of pdfTeX 1.40.0.
% * The argument for option `page' can be a register.
* Internal change: Switching of color stacks is easier by using
@pdfcolorstack for the stack number. Thus this command
should be redefined, if someone wants to use another color stack
(e.g. for footnotes). main@pdfcolorstack should not be changed
for this purpose.
