I have installed a new version of the UK TeX FAQ on CTAN, in directory
help/uk-tex-faq
This new version includes some work on tidying the FAQ-as-a-whole, and a
small number of improvements and additions (see extracts from the
CHANGES file, copied below).
(I did in fact install a new copy last week, but problems with it were
detected almost immediately, so I delayed announcement until the
problems were resolved and this replacement installed.)
The FAQ appears on CTAN as
http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/help/uk-tex-faq
and in the catalogue as
http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/faq.html
However, browsing (and rather feeble searching) is best achieved via the
web interface at
http://www.tex.ac.uk/faq
The CHANGES file for this release mentions:
Changes in version 3.16c
New answer:
+Label isdef: is this command defined? tests
Revised answers:
+Label bibprefixsort: two new examples
+Label citeURL: provide a list (rather than a bunch) of alternative
styles, mention babelbib
+Label multirow: mention the case of multicolumn-multirow
+Label music: correct Web output of package list at end of answer
+Label oarglikesect: mention kernel command @dblarg
+Label secthead: rewritten accounts of sectsty & titlesec
+Label tutbitslatex: added pointer to Fauske's page on PGF/TikZ
+Label watermark: noted that package draftcopy doesn't work with pdflatex,
+Label watermark: mention draftwatermark
+Label whatbst: correct reed.edu link
Bugfix:
+Release dates are now represented in ISO format (yyyy-mm-dd) --
previously we used the LaTeX format, using solidus instead of hyphen

The xbase bundle provides the packages xparse and template.
xparse provides a high-level interface for declaring document commands,
e.g., a uniform way to define commands taking optional arguments,
optional stars (and others), mandatory arguments and more.
template provides an interface for defining generic functions using a
key=val syntax.
All files are also available in the Subversion (SVN) repository of the

textpath
package.
Location on CTAN: graphics/metapost/contrib/macros/textpath
Summary description: typesetting text along a path with the help of LaTeX
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This MetaPost package provides macros to typeset
text along a free path with the help of LaTeX,
thereby preserving kerning and allowing for 8-bit
input, e.g., accented characters.
Changes:
* Renamed macro textpathVar to textpathFont.
* Added macro textpathRaw, that supports typesetting
mathematical formulae along a path.
* Added configuration variables
textpathRepeat,
textpathStretch,
textpathHSpace,
textpathShift,
textpathFancyStrokes,
textpathStrokePrecision,
textpathCureSqrt.
* Added more documentation and examples.

On Wed, 6 Dec 2006, Heiko Oberdiek submitted new packages
centernot, stackrel.
* centernot v1.0
This package provides centernot that prints the symbol
cs{not} on the following argument. Unlike
ot the symbol
is horizontally centered.
* stackrel v1.0
This package adds an optional argument to stackrel for
putting something below the relational symbol and defines
stackbin for binary symbols.
They are part of the oberdiek bundle.

On Sat, 2 Dec 2006, Heiko Oberdiek submitted an update to the
grffile
package.
The package extends the file name processing of package graphics to
support a larger range of file names. For example, the file name may
contain several dots. Or in case of pdfTeX in PDF mode the file name may
contain spaces.
The package is part of the oberdiek bundle.
