[View More]Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The goal of the savetrees package is to pack as much text as possible
onto each page of a LaTeX document. Admittedly, this makes the
document far less attractive. Nevertheless, savetrees is a simple way
to save paper when printing draft copies of a document. It can also
be useful when trying to meet a tight page-length requirement for a
conference or journal submission.
Version 1.2 of savetrees adds code to discourage TeX from permitting
paragraphs to end with a lone word. It also sets the top and bottom
margins to nonzero values because that was too ugly even for
savetrees. Finally, this version of savetrees improves the check for
chapter-based document classes, making it more robust.

On Sun, 19 Nov 2006 Axel Kielhorn submitted an update to the
refman
package.
It contains document classes (report- and article-style) for writing
technical reference manuals. It offers a wide left margin for notes to the
reader, like some of the manuals distributed by Adobe.
Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib/refman
Summary description: The refman classes implement an layout suitable for reference manuals

Announcement text:

[View More]-----------------------------
This is an update to the refman classes.
It contains additional command to pass the pagesize to the DVI-Viewer (DVIPS/GS, PDFTEX, DVIPDFMX) and a new option to reduce the size of the border for online viewing.
Documentation in English and German is included.
Note to users of the August 2006 beta:
The implicit definition of the pagesize in the DVI output has been replaced by an explicit command. Add the pagesize option to pass the page size to the DVI-Viewer.

On Sat, 18 Nov 2006, Hendri Adriaens submitted an update to the
xkeyval
package.
This package is an extension of the keyval package and offers additional
macros for setting keys and declaring and setting class or package
options. The package allows the programmer to specify a prefix to the
name of the macros it defines for keys, and to define families of key
definitions; these all help use in documents where several packages define
their own sets of keys.

Summary description: utopia fonts license clarification
License type: dfsg
Announcement text:

[View More]----------------------------------------
I am happy to announce that Adobe has graciously clarified the licensing
terms of the Utopia font family, making it clear that the fonts can be
modified, and such modifications can be redistributed (this was
previously ambiguous, unfortunately). Therefore, the Utopia fonts can
now be considered free (as in freedom), and will be included on the next
TeX Live.
I have updated the license terms in the original Utopia afm and pfb
files, and the new files are available at http://tug.org/fonts/utopia,
and soon from CTAN:fonts/utopia. The actual font information (glyphs,
metrics, etc.) is entirely unchanged.
For those who are concerned about such things, the precise license terms
from Adobe and other legal information is also available at
http://tug.org/fonts/utopia.
Happy typesetting,
Karl
