CTAN update notification: FPL Fonts

On Sat, 5 Feb 2005 Ralf Stubner submitted an update to his fpl fonts. The FPL Fonts provide a set of SC/OsF fonts for URW Palladio L which are compatible with respect to metrics with the Palatino SC/OsF fonts from Adobe. Note that it is not my aim to exactly reproduce the outlines of the original Adobe fonts. The SC and OsF in the FPL Fonts were designed with the glyphs from URW Palladio L as starting point. For some glyphs (eg 'o') I got the best result by scaling and boldening. For others (eg 'h') shifting selected portions of the character gave more satisfying results. All this was done using the free font editor FontForge (http://fontforge.sf.net). The kerning data in these fonts comes from Walter Schmidt's improved Palatino metrics. For compatibility reasons, references are no longer used for the accented characters in the SC font. On Sun, 6 Feb 2005 Uwe Lück submitted an update to his ednotes package. Ednotes is a macro package for typesetting scholarly critical editions. Provides macros for critical edition typesetting with LaTeX including support for line numbers and layers of footnotes. Fix of warnings that turned into undefined errors. 2.) EdnoTUGb.pdf now acknowledges that the most recent version of LEDMAC reported is v0.6 (e.g.: if you want to tell somebody ...). BTW: Roy Flechner succeeded in producing oscillating page breaks with pagewise line numbering. CTAN Update: extract v1.4

On Sun, 6 Feb 2005, Hendri Adriaens submitted version 1.4 of his package extract. The package provides the means to extract specific content from a source document and write that to a target document. One could, for instance, use this to extract all exercises from lecture notes and generate an exercises book on the fly. CTAN upload: URW Garamond

On Wed, 2 Feb 2005, Walter Schmidt uploaded a bundle called garamond, containing: (1) the PostScript font family Garamond No8, which URW has made available for free under the Aladdin Free Public License, see <http://www.artifex.com/downloads/>. (2) font metrics, macros etc. to use the fonts with LaTeX; this is material which I have added; it is released under LPPL.
