Announcement text: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- pxpgftate makes PGF/TikZ work in the vertical (tate) direction of pLaTeX and upLaTeX with dvipdfmx and dvips. A picture in tate text is rotated like the surrounding text, node text is set in tate, and shadings, patterns, fadings and transparency groups no longer stop with "Incompatible direction list can't be unboxed". remember picture, the current page node and tcolorbox work, too.
The package patches PGF instead of replacing its files and works with TeX Live 2012 or later. With a PGF that supports the tate direction itself (proposed in pgf-tikz/pgf#1487), it does nothing. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
