On Thu, 25 Aug 2005 Alexander Grahn submitted an update to his movie15 package. This package defines includemovie with PDF-1.5 compatibility. Option 'autoplay' causes the media clip to be started right after the page has loaded. This is useful for side by side movie clips to be played back synchronously. CTAN update: dvisvgm

On Wed, 24 Aug 2005, Martin Gieseking submitted an update to the dvisvgm package. Dvisvgm is a command line utility that converts TeX DVI files to the XML-based Scalable Vector Graphics format. New feature in this release: Fonts that are not available as PFB files are now vectorized by tracing Metafont's bitmap output. This function is not perfect yet but already usable. CTAN update: ledmac and ledpar patches/updates

On Tue, 23 Aug 2005, Peter Wilson submitted updates to his packages ledmac and ledpar to CTAN. ledmac is a macro package for typesetting scholarly critical editions. The ledmac package is a LaTeX port of the plain TeX EDMAC macros. It supports indexing by page and line number and simple tabular- and array-style environments. Ledpar provides parallel-text typesetting (either in parallel columns, or on opposing pages), for the ledmac package. The patches (ledpatch v0.5 and ledparpatch v0.3) do: o Fix an error reporting problem in the ledpar package o Provide and improved algorithm for (un)locking line numbering o Provide commands for controlling whether sidenotes are aligned on their top or their bottom line. CTAN update: dvi2bitmap 0.13

On Sun, 21 Aug 2005 Norman Gray submitted version 0.13 of his package dvi2bitmap to CTAN. dvi2bitmap is a utility to convert TeX DVI files directly to bitmaps, without going through the complicated (and slow!) route of conversion via PostScript and PNM. The prime motivation for this is to prepare mathematical equations for inclusion in HTML files but there are many other uses beyond that. It can generate XBM and GIF bitmaps, plus PNG, if you have the libpng library installed. It uses the same kpathsea font-searching library as other TeX programs, again as long as you have the appropriate library installed. The program is written in C++, and incidentally provides a good object interface for DVI and PK files. On Mon, 15 Aug 2005 Marc Penninga submitted an update to the fontools package. This package provides a few tools to ease using fonts (especially Truetype/Opentype ones) with Latex and fontinst: AFM2AFM - reencode .afm files; designed to replace fontinst's eencodefont for big .afm files. AUTOINST - simplify the use of the LCDF TypeTools by creating a command file for otftotfm, plus .fd and .sty files. CMAP2ENC - convert glyph indices in TrueType fonts without glyph names (such as Linotype Palatino) to Adobe glyph names. FONT2AFM - create font metrics; this is just a wrapper script around tools such as pf2afm, ttf2afm, pfm2kpx and ot2kpx. OT2KPX - extract all kerning pairs from an OpenType font. PFM2KPX - extract all kerning pairs from buggy .pfm files (the ones where pf2afm complains .notdef character occurred among kern pairs).
