by CTAN Announcements 12 Nov '09

12 Nov '09

This should appear at your local mirror within a day. Thanks again, Jim Hef{}feron Saint Michael's College ........................................................................................ The following information was provided by our fellow contributor: Name of contribution: dashundergaps Version number: 1.0 Author's name: Merciadri Luca Location on CTAN: /macros/latex/contrib Summary description: Aims at helping the LaTeX user at underlining a given set of words License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Briefly, this package aims at helping the LaTeX user at underlining a given set of words by either a line (using underline{text}), dots (using dotuline{text}) or even a dashed line (using dashuline{text}). Various options were implemented for this. This can be used in conjunction with the phantomtext option, which allows the user to write a text with gaps, e.g. for a completion by students. These gaps can be completed with the real input using the teachernotes option. Please note that this is a really basic package. For more info on it, please look at the manual. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This package is located at http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/dashundergaps . More information is at http://tug.ctan.org/pkg/dashundergaps (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear). We are supported by the TeX Users Group http://www.tug.org . CTAN update: comprehensive
by CTAN Announcements 10 Nov '09

10 Nov '09

This should within a day be at your local mirror. Jim Hef{}feron Saint Michael's College ........................................................................ The following information was provided by our fellow contributor: Name of contribution: The Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List Version number: 11.0 Author's name: Scott Pakin Location on CTAN: /info/symbols/comprehensive Summary description: Symbols accessible from LaTeX License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List is an organized list of over 5900 symbols commonly available to LaTeX users. Some of these symbols are guaranteed to be available in every TeX distribution. Others require font files that come with some, but not all, TeX distributions. The rest require font files that must be downloaded explicitly from CTAN (http://www.ctan.org/) and installed. The Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List currently showcases symbols from 130 separate typefaces. This new release of the Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List (version 11.0) is a particularly exciting one. At long last the document has been fully hyperlinked! (This was not a simple manner of including a usepackage{hyperref}; the document was filled with constructs that confused hyperref.) The list contain almost a thousand more symbols than before (a 20% increase), new how to prose in the Additional Information section, an expanded index with more see... entries, and other features designed to help the Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List live up to its name. Enjoy! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This package is located at http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/info/symbols/comprehensive . CTAN update: glossaries
by CTAN Announcements 10 Nov '09

10 Nov '09

just as i get to the end of cataloguing all the tex live 09 changes, the daemon thumbs his nose and cries: > The following information was provided by the package's contributor. > > Name of contribution: glossaries > Author's name: Nicola Talbot > Location on CTAN: macros/latex/contrib/glossaries > Summary description: Create glossaries and lists of acronyms > License type: lppl > > Announcement text given by the package's contributor: > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > v2.04: > * Improved support for multiple lists of acronyms. > > * Fixed bug that caused glsadd to ignore counter option > > * Fixed bug that causes babel to override translator's definition > of glossaryname. > > * Added user1, ... , user6 keys. > > * Added polyglossia support > > glossaries-accsupp v0.2: > * Added access keys. > > * Added support for acronyms. > > mfirstuc v1.04: > * fixed bug occurring when initial control sequence > in the argument of makefirstuc has more than one > argument. thank you for the upload; i've installed it, and updated all three packages' catalogue entries. > Users may view the package catalogue entries at > http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/glossaries.html > http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/glossaries-accsupp.… > http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/mfirstuc.html > or they may browse the package directory at > http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/glossaries the catalogue entries will, of course, change overnight tonight. CTAN update: asymptote
by CTAN Announcements 09 Nov '09

09 Nov '09

This should reach your local mirror in the next day. Jim Hef{}feron Saint Michael's College ........................................................................ The following information was provided by our fellow contributor: Name of contribution: Asymptote Version number: 1.89 Author's name: John Bowman Location on CTAN: / Summary description: 2D & 3D TeX-Aware Vector Graphics Language License type: lgpl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The draw, fill, and clip commands now pass raw SVG code directly to dvisvgm (version 0.8.6 required); zero-length paths are output as circles. Unsupported SVG elements are converted to PNG images; unimplemented SVG features such as Gouraud and tensor-patch shading can be (partially) emulated as vector elements using the -svgemulation option. The control point normalization of rational NURBS surfaces was fixed; 3D NURBS curves are now implemented. A problem with inlinemovie3 was fixed. The linetype pattern is now a real array: for backwards compatibility, a string is still accepted, but the return type of linetype(pen) is now real[] instead of string (backwards incompatible). The split routine was changed so that an empty delimiter splits on spaces, discarding duplicates. The palette routines are now guaranteed to generate at least the specified number of colours. PNG output produces a transparent background. Surface and path3 garbage collection was fixed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This package is located at http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/asymptote .
