Name of contribution: mf2pt1
Author's name: Scott Pakin
Location on CTAN: /support/mf2pt1
Summary description: Produce PostScript Type 1 fonts from Metafont source
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
mf2pt1 facilitates producing PostScript Type 1 fonts from a Metafont
source file. mf2pt1's advantage over tools such as TeXtrace and
mftrace is that it does not rely on bitmap tracing and therefore can
produce higher-quality Type 1 fonts than trace-based tools. The catch
is that mf2pt1 imposes a number of restrictions on the Metafont input
so it is not, as the name may imply, an automatic converter of
arbitrary Metafont fonts to Type 1 format.
This release substantially alters the (internal) is_clockwise macro
with the intention of making it a lot more robust.

Name of contribution: newcommand

Location on CTAN: /support/newcommand
Summary description: Easily generate complex LaTeX macro definitions
License type: lppl
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
LaTeX's
ewcommand is fairly limited in the way it processes optional
arguments, but the TeX alternative, a batch of defs and futurelets,
can be overwhelming to the casual LaTeX user. newcommand.py is a
Python program that automatically generates LaTeX macro definitions
for macros that require more powerful argument processing than
ewcommand can handle. newcommand.py is intended for LaTeX advanced
beginners (i.e., those who know how to use
ewcommand but not
internal LaTeX2e commands such as @ifnextchar) and for more advanced
users who want to save some typing when defining complex macros.
This update supports optional arguments whose default value is the
value of a preceding argument.
