Nelson Lago submitted the
pbalance
package.
Version number: 1.0
License type: lppl1.3
Summary description: Balance last page in two-column mode
Announcement text:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
pbalance is a new package that aims at balancing the columns on the last
page of a two-column document. If the page is simple (no footnotes,
floats, or marginpars), is uses the balance package; otherwise, it uses
enlargethispage to make the left column shorter, balancing the columns.
This involves extra LaTeX passes and columns are not perfectly balanced,
they are merely not too unequal. On the plus side, it should never
generate defective output.
